My wife had one. She said it was all the “dowry” I was going to get.

Sadly, they didn't make it long after I went into the service. I think maybe my sister played Opera to them.

I recall an Iowa DJ who used “Kaiser Bill’s Batman” as his theme song. Amazingly, it was on a country station.

Pickett, dubbed "The Guy Lombardo of Halloween" for his impossibly catchy No. 1 song, passed away Wednesday night at the West Los Angeles Veterans Hospital Does anyone know about his military service?

...which song, by the way, was written by Presidential ‘’suggestion’’ (read: order), after Queen Elizabeth (rightly) took umbrage at the characterisation of British soldiers in ‘Battle of New Orleans’.

I think Rolf Harris's "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport" was big in America around the same time (which I also bought). I got interested early in comedy "novelty songs."That tune was considered a love song in certain parts of Australia.

The Bonzos have several videos on YouTube and there's a box set of "Do Not Adjust Your Set" (which I have; it's great) with the Bonzos performing in every episode plus a young Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin (Terry Gilliam did animations for DNAYS but they don't show up on this set). And there's a "Bonzos 40th Anniversary" DVD...

What a blast from the past. I remember spinning one of their records back at campus radio in 68.
