Speak for yourself, Mr. Groupthink.
Emmanuel College. Is that a Christian school?
What was this teacher’s class? What is his specialty?
If this was an engineering class, the re-enactment would be totally irrelevent.
If it is a contemporary-issues class, 1 might argue it is relevent.
1 might still argue he shouldn’t be proselytizing in any class, BUT if he was talking about a relevent case in a relevent class, he could possibly use the argument that he was simply engaging in debate. Especially if he allowed debate. The latter may be questionable.
I’m teetering on the fence about his firing, although without all facts, I’m tending toward letting him stay.
I agree. If he was trying to show what responses are available to potential victims, this could save lives in future.
Timing is everything. I can understand trying to equip students who may be victims of copycats which might follow within the immediate aftermath of VaTech. However, liberals were sure to have a hissyfit during their "crisis of ideology" and strike out against convenient targets.
OK, here’s another later thread. More detail that partially answers my previous questions:

When the Columbia blew up on re-entry, NASA engineers didn’t wait a couple weeks before investigating why.
When something goes wrong, you look at how and why to keep it from happening again. Waiting for the public to calm down and go back to watching the idiot box before getting to work isn’t sensitivity, it’s irresponsibility.
