As Frederick the Great said, “Diplomacy without arms is like music without instruments.” Which countries in the West can therefore really conduct diplomacy with teeth. Now only one. It is a sad state of affairs.
The European solution is to talk, concede, and then talk some more when the other side does not live up to its side of the deal.

"Should this happen, Iran will be a Sea of Glass" If bringing down 240 stories of American iconic architecture and flying a plane into US Military headquarters isn't answered by raining unchecked death upon the perpetrators then why would any other attack? 9/11 wasn't funsies. (Not implying anyone thinks 9/11 was funsies. That's my point.. all agree it was of sufficient magnitude to warrant any response.)
