We had a free press during WWII.

The press was heavily censored during WW-II. Mostly with their approval, but not entirely. You didn't submit your stuff to the censors, you couldn't be in the theater. So it should be today.

Much of the criticisms of the war during WW-II delt with essentially domestic matters, corruption in defense contracts, rationing, etc. The other criticisms were that the war was not being prosecuted vigorously enough. There was virtually no one who was saying it should not be fought at all.

Many embers of the German American Bund, who were still critical, were sent to internment camps, many to be deported after the war was over. There was no need for a GitMo to take enemy combatants out of the jurisdiction of our courts, the courts did not declare any such jurisdiction.

I’m saying neither. The methods we’re using are restrained by political-correctness. If we fought WWII like this we would have lost.

Understood. What's different now is that our present leadership is saying that the wider war could go on for generations. We'll be debating this as a nation for a long time to come, across numerous presidents.

Plenty of that going around. It doesn’t start with Sharia. It starts with what we have now: huge portions of Miami and Los Angeles - and other big cities - overrun by people from the third world, pulling our country down into third-world status. This country is very different from the way it was just 10 years ago.

Over 10 million civilians were drafted to fight that war when our population was half of what it is now.

We have been fighting a TINY war with very few troops. We lost 6,000 in the first three days of D-Day alone. We haven’t even lost close to that in almost six years of war with terrorists. Each loss is tragic, but we are fighting the most successful military campaign in history. The DemocRATS just don’t want to see that because defeat serves them and the terrorists better.

Apples to oranges. You are chanting the ignorant talking points of Murtha, Kerry, Reid, Pelosi, and the other guy who wants just what they do, Usama Bin Laden.

“This wouldn’t be happening if we had won the war by now. It’s gone on longer than our land-based involvement in WWII’s European theatre.”

Yes, it would. It has nothing to with the length of the war, since we are still in the Kosovo/Bosnia engagement that was supposed to last only a year according to President Clinton. The current tactics of the Democrats are only happening because a Republican president is in office. They would never claim defeat if it were them.

Thank you for the history lesson, but in the next election I’ll be looking for a presidential candidate who understands that this is not a tiny war, and who will also be willing to restrict immigration.

“This would be funny if it was not so true.”

The irony is that the Dems/Libs are screaming for action in Darfur, but if we leave Iraq then the area becomes a Darfur. And since they are so against invasion, how can they be for active military action. Meanwhile, they are counting the MSM to aid them in keeping the public amnesic with regard to Kosovo and Bosnia.

As the adage goes, “While it is true that all Muslims aren’t terrorist, all terrorists currently are Muslims.”
We must remember that we are joined with Muslims in the fight against radical Muslims.

You are only 50% correct in your interpretation. If you note- it is in past tense.

What makes you think ending the war will mean the terrorists will quit killing us?

Do we have so much power that if we quit fighting terrorists, they will love us and no longer seek to kill us?

Let me see - how many terrorists in how many countries?

And suddenly they will leave America alone. Yeah right.

Idiotic to think we have an option to quit fighting the war. We will be fighting it today or it will be in our backyard as they want this country.
