I’ll probably say this several more times, but I’ll start here. When I say “you” here, it is the generic “you” for everybody who cares, not “you” specifically Dominic Harr.

There is an inflated sense of importance surrounding this thread, in my opinion, as well as to being “banned” from this site.

This thread is just a discussion, like any other. People get overheated because they want to, and while i think it’s unproductive anybody who doesn’t like the vitriol in this thread could go to any of hundreds of other threads.

People who stay here to get abused are doing so out of choice. (here I mean this thread, not this site).

Being banned from this site isn’t like being shot dead at Virginia Tech, or being killed in Iraq, or being divorced by your spouse, or getting cancer. It’s just a place to talk about stuff, and if you are stupid enough to not be able to figure out how not to get banned, you just have to find one of another millions of places you can talk to people.

Or, you could analyse your history, figure out where you went wrong, civilly grovel to the owner, and get yourself re-instated, if being here is so important.

And when someone posts to you with some comment that seems offensive or attacking, you can choose to ignore it, or respond to it, but you can remember that your self-worth is yours, that the guy on the other end is just some schmuck sitting in his underwear typing on his laptop while watching CSI Miami. We are all just people communicating, and it’s a shame after many of us have spent 40 years or more on this planet that we are so bad at it.

So when I see an overwrought “I’ve been here since the beginning, and we all had long-time friends and now they are GONE”, I have to now think to myself — where did they go? When JR bans someone, does their existance get swept into thier bit-bucket? No.

Weep not for people who you could e-mail to any time you please, who you can converse with on any forum in the world EXCEPT this one, and who are no more “gone” than you or I. Weep instead for your friends who are REALLY dead, REALLY gone.

JR’s right. The damage to this nation if conservatives abandon the cause could be drastic, could change the course of history forever.

But banning some freeper who stands in the way of that possibility? That’s really NOTHING. A speck in the sea of trouble. Call your friends on the phone, buy a plane ticket and go visit them if you miss them. Get an account on WideAwake, it’s easy and they are all over there.

I hate driving 55 mph on the highway, and I often don’t. But if a cop pulls me over, I pay the ticket because that’s the rules and I understand how to follow them and they aren’t going to kill me. And if I’ve got 10 points already, I don’t scream past the cop at 90 mph and then curse him for attempting to pull me over and then call him names and question his judgment for ticketing me. Then I can’t drive anymore.

But here you are just kicked off the web site. Still, you can follow rules, they are simple.

Nobody is getting banned just for liking Rudy, or just posting pro-rudy stuff, or even arguing FOR Rudy. But JR would be within his rights to do so. Maybe there is a “double standard”, but there has always been. Conservatives get a lot more leeway here to bend the rules than liberals. We zot a liberal troll in 5 minutes, but even a newbie with a vanity first post can survive if it seems clear they have a sound conservative thought.

If it bothers you so much, then you need to start talking to your congressmen, who are doing nothing about it; the immigration laws they are passing are halfhearted at best.
***It helps also to know that the best candidate for president in the race on this issue is Duncan Hunter.

Run, Fred, Run!

Did you hear where Fred won that poll in Ca. with 28% I believe? If he's your candidate-if he announces it, I wish him luck in the run for the WH.

Go Hunter Go!

Hunter's my man in the race to the WH. He got 22% of that vote.

Lots of cultural Marxists out there. Part happened years ago, when a lot of folks just found Marx’s dialectics a useful way to discuss certain sociological issues.

One day, about 1990, I was sitting in a coffee house grading English compositions, when I heard two college girls talking about some course, batting about Marxism like it was just so cool...I knew we were in trouble then.

Rich kids, going to a private college, drinking coffee in a high end neighborhood discussing Marxist philosophy, not even realizing how ironic it was.

Cultural Marxism brought to you thanks to departments of liberal arts all over America.

I yoyo between the two...I like them both. Not particularly unhappy with Huckabee, either...

All three of them are so much better than Rudy. IMHO.

While Giuliani is not my first choice, I see no benefit in trashing him to the point that we foolishly guarantee a Democrat control of the executive branch.

Back a couple of months ago, I was supporting Rudy against attacks for that very reason. I wasn't going to vote for him, but I didn't want him to become radioactive.

But the pro-rudy posters here made him radioactive to me, because they could never answer any questions about what he stood for, why he was strong on things he said he was strong on, why they believed polls that said he'd get democratic votes, or anything else of substance.

And I couldn't stand their company (I mean being on their side in the debate, not personally), because of the way they talked down to good conservatives, how they were so smug with their "polls" and "inevitability". They skoffed at people who wanted to advance conservatism, calling it dead. They snickered at how "silly" and "idiotic" freepers were who would support a guy who "couldn't win an election".

And then they started trashing candidates for holding positions that were similar to Rudy. Romney was 'pro-choice', Fred's a lobbyist, McCain has McCain Feingold, Gingrich cheated on his wife, etc. etc. It was obvious they didn't care about these flaws because they were voting for Rudy who had ALL of them -- so they were raising false points of contention just to demoralize other conservatives to help Rudy.

So I stopped helping them, and worked for the candidates I cared about who were also being savagely attacked, like Romney. And I did it by arguing the merits, not attacking others, and I don't think ANYBODY has ever complained about me for supporting a person they see as a "liberal" (Romney).

“Do you know he has illegally kept the records sealed from when he was mayor?

Gossip and innuendo.

No, it isn't. Look it up. He violated city code by taking all of his mayoral records and locking them in his own private, secure facility. You want to take a look at them and his record? Too bad. They're illegally sealed.

I had to choose between Tancredo and Hunter. That almost tore me apart but I cast my lot with Hunter.

I don't know much about Huckabee, as a matter of fact, you could probably fit all I know about him through the eye of a needle.

I don't see Thompson or Hunter as dividers in the GOP.

That thing rudy would split the party I believe.

Hey Jim, while you've got the zotting stick on auto can you zot the schmuck known as Sneate Majority Leader Harry Reid. A banishment to the far reaches of the Al Anbar province would be apropos.
