“The original Wideawakes were radical abolitionists who were sick and tired of the compromised and cowardly Whig Party. They were third party radicals who had made up their minds that the scourge, the injustice, of slavery WAS going to end.
And yet, one of the primary links on the front of Ivans site says something like no third parties.”
Apparently his PHd is in another area.

Aw, C’mon! They’re harmless, mostly.
I wonder how many DUmmies will infiltrate and rip on FR?

Samuel Johnson was right. Patriotism really is the last refuge of scoundrels.

Well said. I'll second that.

Sir,
If you took offense to anything I posted, could you please direct me to that post and tell me what offended you or why you would classify me as a “scoundrel”?
Thanks!

I was at a conservative academic seminar over the weekend. I did peek in for a few minutes from a hotel computer. The charge for that was $7.50 for 15 minutes, which is not too bad. But consider reading this whole thread at $7.50 per 15 minutes :-)

Lost a few good ones, but FR can’t be liberal Rudy’s “campaign central”. After reading much of this thread I still don’t know what they were thinking.
The shame of these threads is you get the disruptors and the haughty but not the cowardly trolls like “areafiftyone” who go around instigating and manipulating, and run away.
Emotional cripples or paid trolls, they cause a lot of this sort of trouble. Though I have no sympathy for old timers who let themselves be manipulated.

I think there is a possibility that Fred Thompson and Joe Lieberman could make a third party viable. The Republicans have all but dished out their cash so it may be “The Third” is the answer.

In your dreams. Third party divides Republican votes and thus you have a Dem in the white House.
