I hardly think my response was "snarky". You think it is "Freepercide" - fine. I happen to think diferently. That is the way it must be then. If I have ofended your sensibilities - well, that is okay too, I guess. I have loved this place. I hate freedom of "choice" as it it defined and as it is known. I hate the acrimony, the hostility of this thread. I hate the celebratory tone that is taken every time that someone is gone - for whatever reason or rationalization. But I have come to know some of these people over years and thousands of comments. For you to judge them over their last how-ever-many posts is patently wrong. It is sad. It is wrong. It is punitive. And it is telling.
I will tell you again - Free Republic is powerful. It has a voice. And, it has been diminished. I am grieving because I, along with many of the departed, celebrated being here. The witch hunt must stop. It must. If you wish to flush out those who think "differently" you will find only an echo chamber left behind. Tell me that isn't wrong. Good grief, I'm appealing to everyone's sense of thought, everyone's sense of fairness. My gosh, there are scorecards and updates on the purge. Collectively these people have posted thousands and thousands of threads and comments. They hate the far-left, the liberalism that threatens our immediate well-being. And, I must say this, despite my hesitancy to speak for others:
They view our most immediate threat as the desire of our apocalyptic destruction from the jihadists - yours, mine, our loved ones, the born and unborn. The capitulation of the left to those forces --- threatens our undoing. None , none of the departed are capitulators to the left. Instead, there are those who "woo-hoo" every time someone is eliminated from our wonderful "forum". Please, I appeal to your sense of reason. Is this right? Surely there is room for some reasonable discourse.
So I say.... I hope to contribute to the dialog about the most important matters facing our world as we know it. I hope there is room for me. I hope there can be commonality as we move forward in this election cycle. We face the most perilous times ever. We need to measure everything against that. To do otherwise, in my singular view, is to do everything we know and love a disservice. The "woo-hooers" are misguided.
Make no mistake, the power and the impact of Free Republic is diminished with every single "woo-hoo". Please, call for a stop to this nonsense.
