Thomas Jefferson :
“On every question of construction of the Constitution, let us carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed.”

Morning knitting (and all)
Seems I've missed a bit. Looks to me like Howlin and nopardons are gone? Just curious did they opus out or were they banned?
BTW, I'm not one bit sorry about nopardons.....unfortunately I had to cut my newbie teeth against her...nobody gets to be that mean to almost everyone without some sort of consequences at some point, IMHO

Didn’t happen here...don’t know the details.

We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
John Adamns

“Do you really expect me to do that?”
I pray that you and other dedicated conservatives, never do change their dedication to the constitution and the principles that our ancestors fought and died for.

Similar to something that was said by a Scotland Yard official recently, in defense of surveillance and other measures that to some seem to fall outside the protection of rights: British common law was not devised to counter those who want to poison or irradiate the public.
To: IrishRainy
Howlin was pure trouble and a vindictive person.
I’m glad she is gone.

The transformation of the GOP into Democrat Party Lite?
Its not going to be DNC Lite; its going to be a more moderate conservative party though; you all have had your foot on our necks for too long.
This country has to be governed in the middle; the world has moved on from the 50s.
The Contract with America will unite this party again. But were not going to let you make abortion and guns the big issues this time around.
