The action that seemed to save lives was either a) blocking the door with a heavy object or b) running like hell.
According to the story (which is a simply amazing story, I might add), anyone who got within a foot of him died. It also seems like he spent little more than 30 to 90 seconds in each classroom, at which point most of the people were dead.
Maybe the Derbyshires and Boortzes of the world are ninjas and have not told anyone. But I’ve been rear-ended at a traffic light and it’s taken me 30 seconds to gather my thoughts. I can’t imagine sitting in a class, trying to think of the German word for “toilet” and suddenly seeing my professor’s head explode.
We are in the world of instincts here. I simply can’t imagine an instinct that says, climb out of your desk, climb over the dead bodies, and run towards the scary Asian guy with two pistols.
They told this to the kids jumping out the windows?
Good job Washington Post.
Also, you can keep living on your knees and writing letters to lawyers for your jollies. I don't care. You are still an enabler and an apologist.
