You are truly pathetic.
some basic,simple improvements not solutions
1.maybe really good locking mechanisms for individual classrooms doors or anything that would hold the door shut so it can’t be kicked in. When I was in school the teachers would always have the doors wide open. Pretty stupid IMO. It didn’t sound like the classrooms had very good locks or none because the students had to barricade the doors or hold them shut with their bodies.
2. some roll out fire ladders for second floor windows.
3. possibly some “in case of emergency” guns possibly painted in a bright orange color so when the cops storm the building they won’t be mistaken for a rampage killer. available to teachers and faculty of course.
I don’t think these improvements would be too costly.
Make sure you give her the $ to buy the gun and let her make the purchase. You cannot “transfer” the gun legally without an intervening entity such as a Federal Firearms Licensee, which is a hassle. So just give her the $.
The question “which gun to buy” comes up often on FR, and different folks have different opinions. However for a newbie shooter I’d recommend the simplicity and size of a snubbie revolver in 38 Special with a covered hammer. Taurus and S&W have a few nice models and both have titanium versions (lightweight). These are simple, uncomplicated, relaible guns where you point, pull the trigger, and Boom.
Another choice might be the Kel-Tec 3AT in 380 caliber.
It’s imperative that your daughter go to the gun store and actually try the gun for herself.
Whatdya mean *bu!!$hi+*?
It’s a great article and a great solution. It worked for them and it will work for us.
How does one go about finding a shooting range and learning about guns. Being raised a city kid, I was brought up with the mentality that guns were for police and criminals. Now that we live in the country and guns are everywhere and everyone we know hunts, we are interested in learning more.
What’s a good handgun for concealed carry and why?
*gun control* = controlling your gun when using it = hitting what one is aiming at
Now THAT would be a Darwin Award candidate.
Did hell just freeze over?

Go to your local sporting goods store and ask them exactly what you asked here.
Someone there will surly be able to point you to a good local range.
Take some time and “hold” a few guns.
Don’t just buy the first thing you see. Have some fun learning, and welcome to the club.
There’s plenty around. I’ll do that.
I didn’t realize that trying my utmost to get a fellow FREEPER to engage others on a thread in genuine dialogue instead of throwing pesky mystifying darts at them was pathetic.
INDEED.
After 911, some on the left realized two things.
1. There really are bad people in the world.
2. Sometimes the only thing you can do is take the bad people out before they kill more.
My brother in law is very anti gun, but has told me he is thinking about learning to shoot to defend himself.
I believe responsible adults should be able to have guns in their homes to protect themselves, and arguments have been put forth that this tradgedy could have been avoided/lessened had other students had guns, but how about this? College students = semi-rational, booze addled, sex crazed semi-adults. We really want to add firearms to that mix? Or how about this? Students hear what they believe to be gunfire. Two, or more, of them grab their guns and go out of their rooms to investigate. They meet in the hallway, and they think the other student was doing the shooting, and they start blasting away at each other.
Good for him. congrats. Thx.
My mother-in-law - a wonderful lady - was fairly anti-gun as well...Until one night when she received threatening phone calls and saw someone peeking in her windows. About a week later my FIL bought a pistol.
REALITY STRIKES AGAIN!
At least they had the horse sense to wake-up and change at that point!
PTL.
You don't hear about shooting rampages in the army either.
LOL!
