NBC, MSNBC, CBS radio, Viacom all are in the chain of command of the Don Imus in the Mornining-MSNBC. He signed a contract recently for 5 years. Are we to believe these corporations, as well as frequented visitors such as Tim Russert, Howard Fineman, Gregory, Begala, Carville, John Kerry, Harold Ford, and many, many other democrats, did not know the kind of person Imus is. Did they not know he said outrageous things to all, especially the right, though not in this case. He made his bones for 30 years on saying things which no reasonable person would say simply because they comport themselves in a way which considers others feelings. Not Imus. But they all knew it before the last contract was signed, before the one before that....and it never bothered them....it never crossed their minds....because most of his provocative talk diminsished Christians, conservatives, the Administratin,...and that was A-OK with the media moguls, the democrats. Now comes a complaint, one which could have been made 15 years ago for exactly the same kind of comment, and only because racist Sharpton and racist Jackson said they would have their people boycott the sponsors of MSNBC they decided he was too hot a property.
So which is the greater sin.......Imus insulting college students with racist remarks, or the leadership of MSNBC, Viacom, CBS radio for loving money so much that they provided a forum for a purveyor of racist remarks for 110 -15 years. Imus is being punished, but for the wrong reasons and at the wrong time. The enablers of this type of behavior in the leadership of those companies should be shown the door.
Now we are told to follow the pied piper Sharpton and Jackson on the dogma of racism. They define it, you follow....don't ask questions..just check the first amendment at the door of Mr. Sharpton.

His wife’s book was due to come out on Monday and they had appearances booked on several shows to promote her book.
I think he thought he could save those appearances and his job at pmsnbc by groveling to alsharpton. WRONG.

Imus is a liberal. He didnt get away with it. For a liberal, failing to be politically correct at all times is grounds for reeducation. Agreeing with a conservative value is grounds for expulsion.

You said: Wow.
Maybe some day conservatives will get back in the business of writing and calling news organizations to point out their hypocrisy; until then, we just have to live with this.
My take: maybe someday conservatives will get back in the business of owning more news organizations. til then watch FOX.

How is Hannutty going to handle AS now...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that at a minimum, he's gonna use rubber gloves, albeit with the same loving tenderness that they shared before.

I heard that CBS/Infinity was going to allow him to finish the week because his children's radiothon was going to be held on Friday.
MSNBC could have waited until after he had met with the Rutgers girls BB team, but they were more worried about the advertisers fleeing in droves today.
I for one don't believe a word what Steve Capus said today. He believes it wasn't a financial decision. If it wasn't a financial decision, why bother suspending Imus for two weeks in the first place, then change course when it's evident the advertisers were bailing?

I’d love for Imus to go on a rant against all the people who acted like his friends who turned their backs on him.

I can recall Imus knocking pmsnbc -— I rarely watched him, but I quit watching him altogether when he was mean to GHWB one morning -— I sent off a quick e-mail and then changed the channel.
