"Giuliani's Legal Past Hints at Future"

Yes, he ignored the Constitution in the past, and he will ignore it in the future.

I agree:

He filed lawsuits to extort money from big tobacco

He filed a lawsuit to put 24 gun manufacturers out of business.

He filed lawsuits against car insurers to force them to lower rates.

He filed a lawsuit against the federal government to protect his illegal aliens from being denied welfare and from being deported.

His past most certainly does speak to his future.

I’d be happy to have him serve either Thompson or Hunter in a cabinet post. But not at Pres, Atty. General, senator, congressman or any other position where he’d be making, signing or enforcing the law.

Read the article before you sound off. Get informed.

Thompson will never be president. No fire in the belly, no firm views on anything, no energy, no following in blue or purple states, no money. Hunter has zero appeal outside this forum.

So he filed lawsuits. Anything illegal about that?

He is informed. That’s why he’s against rudy.

"Read the article before you sound off. Get informed."

The guy shows disdain for the Second Amendment, he thinks abortion is a Constitutional Right, as he stated last week in South Carolina. He even filed lawsuits against the gun companies. I would suggest you get informed, and stop believing all the hype publicity articles.

No, they just want to field a winner.

Nope.

But there's also nothing conservative about using the courts to push a social agenda.

I can’t say that you’re wrong about his chances (crystal ball still out for repairs), but I disagree about the “fire in the belly” and “no firm views” stuff. His record in the senate pretty much disproves both assertions. Regarding Hunter, I agree that his name-recognition factor is pretty low, thus making his an uphill battle for the nomination. But I’d support either before Giuliani in the primary. In the general, I’ll pull the lever for whomever the ‘Pubbies nominate.

How kind of you, to be so dismissive of your fellow FReepers.

I did read the article, and came upon this little gem:

Alex Michelini, a former Daily News reporter, said Giuliani was a media darling for making splashy announcements of major crime initiatives such as the arrests of two Wall Street executives who were handcuffed at work and paraded past colleagues. The charges were later dropped.

Outrageous. Doesn't speak well to Guiliani, that he would publicly humiliate innocent people to get his name in the papers. He has clearly stated how he values authority above freedom, so besmirching the reputations of innocent men doesn't come as much of a shock.

“No, they just want to field a winner.”

Ah yes, victory at all costs! Our liberal is better than their liberal!

The problem the rudyboosters fail to see is that by putting forwards a liberal, you alienate the core conservative base that is needed to go out and volunteer in order to seal the deal.

Not illegal, except IGNORING the SCOTUS decision regarding illegal aliens when he lost his case

Not illegal to sue gun manufacturers, just a colossal waste of taxpayer money, and triggered the Bush administration to sign legislation protecting these patriotic companies from liberal predators like Rudy.

Not illegal to extort money from cigarette manufacturers after decades of allowing its promotion and distribution and profitting mightily from its taxation. Not illegal, just immoral.

Not illegal to sue car insurance companies, just more nanny statism.

It was illegal for his policy of search and siezures based on anonymous tips. The courts put a halt to this stupidity.

And his gun grabbing laws are being shown in the courts today to be the anti-constitutional horsecrap that they are.

His record is pathetic.
