Jonathan Kay's article above was accompanied by copies of 4 of the offending cartoons in The Post's print edition this morning which, unfortunately, weren't posted to its website.

Wow—so they think that the children of dogs and pigs, as they refer to the Jews, are really capable of being controlling everything. Seems there is some kind of disconnect there.

It is just like the left. They call the President an idiot, a moron, the most incompetent president we’ve ever had in our history, yet they accuse him of masterminding 9/11, planning a war in Iraq to “finish Daddy’s business” and profit from Iraqi oil, global warming, etc.

Maybe we should start calling it “Jew Derangement Syndrome.”

Instead of screaming anti-semitism and just generally being offended, the author of this article should ask himself if there is anything that American Jews are doing that might hurt Asian Americans. Jews are notoriously Democratic and pro affirmitave action. For every black admitted to college who hasn’t earned his placement by grades or test score, there is one Asian who is denied admission who has earned a place. I think that white liberal Jews should expect a little blowback if they are going to promote a policy that is unfair to Asian Americans.

While, as a conservative Catholic, I accept in their entirety our late Holy Father John Paul II's teachings that we should rightly love the Jewish people unconditionally, I'd agree with you to the extent that it's fair & legitimate criticism of secular Jews to say they disingenuously & hypocritically use false charges of anti-Semitism to evade accountability for their self-evident racism, routine nepotism & generally pro-communist sympathies.

Surely, when we regularly see secular Jews (e.g. radical feminists) acting as apologists for Islamofascists, there's something awfully wrong with that picture - on multiple levels! - & political correctness, much less unconditional love, shouldn't preclude pointing it out?

secular Jews

Isn't this an oxymoron? Judiaism is a religion. If you are secular, you are not religious. How to be both at once?

Well this is one Jew who isn’t democratic. And while I cetainly take issue with affirmative action, it is not a creation of the Jewish state. To understand Jew’s leaning towards the dims, one must go back in history when the republican party was not the big tent it is today. Rather it was dominated by anti-semites like Ford, Morgan and others. Tammany Hall took great advantage of this. Many Jews first contact upon entering the country was with an Irish immigration official. Tammany often found these new arrivals housing and a job. Thus was built an alliance that still exists in many large cities to this day.

The fact that the dim party has changed and is pro black, pro islamofacist and anti-semetic has been lost on many Jews. Whether this will change is an open question. One can only hope that this much heralded intellectual advantage will make them see the light.

I agree. As for why American Jews favor the left, I agree you have to go back in time. In addition to the reasons you site, I would add that Jewish progressives and communists came to the aid of blacks who were suffering under racist policies in America. That progressivism eventually found its home in the Democratic party. The Democrats from the Jim Crow days, like Strom Thurmond, mostly ended up as conservative republicans. So the cultural lines were drawn. Or so it seems to me.

That only applies to Jewish mothers in regards to their own children. :-)

I know a Jewish woman who is an atheist, and she lights the candles every Friday night, saying the Sabbath prayers and celebrates the holidays. She would be absolutely devasted if her children did not marry Jews and be outstanding intellectual successes, is estranged from the daughter who didn't. She thinks Moses was a really smart guy and a great leader. She supports Israel. She has enormous pride in the Jews, in their intelligence and humanitarian values through the ages, and sees them as the Chosen People and a gift to the world, a light unto the nations, even though she is an outright atheist and sees other peoples' religions as harmful and sees herself as too smart and advanced to believe in God.

Go figure. Secular Jews, who are devoted to secularism and to ethnic Judaism, certainly exist.

Judaism is both religion and culture.

How is Judiasm culture if you are not a practicing, believing Jew? If you are a secular person, you are not religious. My mom was raised in a Baptist home, but she is not a Baptist. As far as I know, no one refers to her as a Baptist. She isn't defined as a Baptist. She's a free person. An individual. This type of labelling is just racism and it doesnt even make sense.

The woman you describe may say she's an athiest, but clearly she's not. Or even if she is, she yet remains, according to your description, a practicing Jew, not a secular person. If she is claiming to be an athiest, then she's a confused practicing Jew.

What I am questioning is what you call "ethnic" Judiasm. Judiasm is a religion, a belief system, not a race. As far as I can tell, race wise, Jews are just more ugly white folks.

I'm stumped too: maybe we should ask leading moonbat Barbra Streisand - the literal poster girl for having it both ways - to explain?

To clarify, the term “Jew” is an ethnic designation as well as a religious one. It is therefore possible to be ethnically Jewish and also be a Christian, Hindu, atheist or whatever.

She is an atheist, and her highest good is the accomplishments of the Jewish people.

There are plenty of atheists who worship something in the place of God: communism, environmentalism, hedonism.

Are you saying Jews are ugly, or white people are ugly?

Oh, please. If anyone has given grief to immigrant Koreans it’s been the inner city black community who vilified Korean produce stores in such great numbers during the 70s & 80s. If they weren’t working up really vicious boycott campaigns against them, they were complaining about “inflated” prices of vegetables (because the prices changed day by day), or carrying on because Koreans don’t put change in the palm of a stranger’s hand (they slap it down on the counter). Believe me, Jews were not causing Koreans trouble in NYC!
