"Yes, and I know the NRA does not support an assault weapon ban. So I don’t line up on that particular issue with the NRA...

But I’m a strong proponent of Second Amendment rights.

Romney wants to ban semi-automatic firearms, but supports the Second Amendment.

Excuse me, while I throw up.

I don’t need a hunter for president; that’s taken as shorthand for “reg’lar guy, not some dork. Guy you can have a beer with and talk about NASCAR or football.” It’s nice for a politician who genuinely can say he or even she enjoys hunting. Not NECESSARY at all, though.

HOWEVER, no one likes a phony. This here smacks of Al Gore- like “resume padding.”

I am a lifelong member of the NRA and have never been hunting. Is there something wrong with that?

I meant the “easier to aim” comment as sarcasm, pointing out the absurdity of Mitt’s claim.

Sorry it wasn’t very clear.

Do you support the Assault Weapons Ban? Do you support banning semi-automatic firearms?

Anyone who doesn’t go around murdering animals on a regular basis and then claims he does, does not get my vote. He clearly doesn’t know when he is well off. I am a pro-gun person, my house is filled with guns, but none of them is ever used to murder animals. NRA member also.

I am curious, how many times to you have to go hunting and how many times to be an acceptable "lifelong" hunter to you?

My Grandmother was lifelong Republican who only votes twice, about 30 years apart. Was she not a life-long Republican to you?

And this means what in terms of his qualifications?

2 hunts makes a lifelong hunter? That must make me immortal!

Free immortality for everyone on the BangList!

Romney’s hunted twice and calls himself a hunter? In that case, I’m twice the hunter Romney is - and I don’t consider myself a hunter.

Who does Mitt think he’s fooling? Most pro-gunners know that the right to gun ownership, at its core, has nothing to do with hunting.

Don’t own a gun. Don’t want one. But, to me, the 2nd Amendment is locked in stone and is never to be violated.

hunting has nothing to do with the second amendment. I remember Bubba Clinton making a pre-election statement to the effect that he wouldn’t do anything to take away “your right to hunt”. (of course, there isn’t any such right).

"I purchased a gun when I was a young man. I've been a hunter pretty much all my life," he said this week in Keene, N.H., to a man sporting a National Rifle Association cap.

Why couldn't he have just said "Hi, I'm running for office and will say whatever it is you want me to say"?

Speaking of small IQ’s, when you learn to form a proper sentence and use punctuation I’ll consider responding to your inane post.

I’m afraid two hunting experiences separated by decades does not qualify one as a “lifelong hunter.” In my opinion, that’s more than a “stretch,” it’s basically a lie. Not good for Romney.

Hmm...Seems reminiscent of another tall-tailer-teller (Paul Dunn), whom I'm sure some Rombots have heard of...

So wonder white crime runs so high in certain portions of the country.

“why is this so important that it should come out?” Because, if you think about it, if he’s not a hunter and does not own guns, but says that he is and that he does, that makes him less than honest. That’s an important trait.

Maybe he's a "closet hunter" and has only decided to emerge recently. Maybe he's tracked all kinds of stuffed animals lurking in his closet all these lifelong years. Come on, now, folks, let's give him the benefit of our doubts, shall we?

“Wasn’t Kerry an avid goose hunter?”

JFK went hunting three or four times during his doomed campaign, and he actually went hunting a time or two when not running. He was known to shoot skeet at some exclusive club, I forget where.

Yet he was unable to convince us of his commitment to RKBA, because of his voting history.

If he had opposed Brady, GCA68, Firearms Protection Act of ‘86, AWB, and so on it may have worked.

Mitt has less to work with- no photo album of him blasting clays or holding dead birds, yet a history as a gun banner.

If I get face time with Mitt I’ll invite him to a CMP match. What a photo-op, as long as he holds an SMLE or equivalent not an “assault weapon”!
