Yes- his sentencing is out of line. He should be given his choice of prison terms:

A. A lengthy Charles Manson-style prison term where he won't be paroled because he's unrepentant and insane.

B. A shorter, Jeffrey Dahmer-style prison term where he faces a different type of jury pool

C. A brief Saddam-style prison term where he has a short sentence at the end of a long rope.

Yah, I’d say we should go easy on him. It’s not like he was a border guard and shot at a Mexican drug smuggler...

I love that gal on the Pontiac “Defend Convertible Freedom” ads, who kind of folds her arms, shakes her head, and says regretfully, almost wistfully....

“N O - as in NO Stan - we are not getting a convertible. What are ya gonna want next, huh, an AMP”?

All of his prison earnings should go to Spann’s wife. And he should have had a life sentence if the US is too squeamish to hand out death penalties for traitors.

President Bush should consider pardoning him, with the same pen that he should pardon Scooter Libby.

The first pardon, for an extremely mis-guided "youth"
(who was not found to be actively firing weapons at or upon U.S. forces...)

Concerning this first one, Bush could be seen (by at least some) as merciful towards the "ignorant & misguided".

He would also be seen openly merciful to an Islamic "convert", which if handled carefully and properly, could by very good P.R. in the Islamic world, right about the time we are seeking more help from Iraqi citizens to come forward with information concerning the murderers jockying for power and influence by way of the "sword", so that we can beat those swords into plowshares before their very eyes. Hopefully [for them!] they would begin to do more of the same...

The second, he could be seen as strong enough to not put up with having his domestic enemies victimize one whom was a help to himself as POTUS, and thusly, in service to our nation.

Continuing along with the same "pardon pen", he should continue, and also pardon the Border patrol agents whom were recently convicted of, what was it(?), shooting BACK at armed drug smugglers?!?!

I'd settle for this last pardon, if I had to pick only one...

“...John Walker Lindh, the American-born Taliban soldier...”

Hey AP and SFGate—here’s a news flash — Johnnie-jihad was never a “soldier”. Real soldiers wear uniforms, carry arms openly, and follow the lawful orders of a chain of command that ends with the leadership of a nation-state.

The Taliban were (and are), a bunch of half-a$$ed, goat-humping, islamofacist throwbacks to the 9th century —they never represented the legal government of a nation.

John Walker Lindh is not a soldier -he’s an American traitor who should be put to death for treason.

A-GAIN!!????

When is this pig going to understand that “No” means “No”???

He made his bed, he can damn well lie in it for the 20 years he was sentenced.

It’s wonderful that the Lindhs “love” their “son very much”, but I bet the families of the Americans he fought and, possibly killed (like Mike Spann’s family), loved him, too!!

But, visiting hours in the cemetary aren’t the same as visiting hours in prison. Apparently, Johnny Jihad hasn’t learned that, yet.

Now, the president has the power of pardoning, or commuting - i.e. of diminishing the penalty. The question is, is it within the presidential powers to adjust the punishment in the opposite direction? Say, to order the evaporation of this talaboon Lindh?

The lawyer and parents of John Walker Lindh, the American-born Taliban soldier serving 20 years in prison after his capture in Afghanistan, called on President Bush on Wednesday to commute his sentence and set him free.

He needs to get a shiv in his ear before 2008 because once the rats retake the White House, they WILL pardon him.

IF he ever gets out, I hope someone wrings the traitor's scrawny neck til he's dead. REMEMBER JOHNNY SPANN!
