I am sure they wished she had worn a full burka so they didn’t have to see that plastic face!

“Although Fonda’s actions in July 1972 did not receive widespread coverage at the time (The New York Times, for example, ran only a brief UPI story and no photograph), her trip was perceived by many as an unpatriotic display of aid and comfort to the enemy, with some characterizing it as treason; the Nixon Administration, however, dismissed calls for legal action against her. Years later, she was labeled as Hanoi Jane by her critics and compared to war propagandists Tokyo Rose and Hanoi Hannah.”
Damascus Nan, meet Hanoi Jane.

She made no comment on arrival and headed for the Old City of Damascus where she toured the 8th-century Omayyad Mosque. Irrelevant to her stated reasons for this trip. Coddling a nation that supports international terrorism is unwise.
If you are there to talk with officials, do that. No sightseeing of ancient history.

The left likes to cite Tokio Rose as a woman who was wrongly convicted of treason. Why don’t they ever compare Hanoi Jane to Axis Sally and Lord Haw Haw?

Your post made me flash back to that retired FBI guy who went missing in Iran Mar 11 who specialized in mafia busts.

I would love to see one oped by some major paper, asking San Fran Nan why she broke the Logan Act and if treason is a motive for her in undermining the one Commander in Chief we have now. Of course, it won’t happen but when I hear she is going to question Assad on his actions, I do not believe her. Just like I distrust any quote from a Lefty Dem on national security.

she chatted with Syrians, who offered her dates, in front of shops selling olive oil soaps, spices and herbs. At one point, she bought some coconut sweets and looked at Syrian carpets.Nancy's shopping spree...

Curious - would you “love” to see the same op-ed making the same points about the GOP congressmen who visited Syria?

As Frank Sinatra once said: I can go anywhere I wanna go, and do anything I wanna do! I gather she wasn't refused entrance to Syria because her passport had an Israeli stamp? Pity -- even I would have paid to see that!
