I wholeheartedly recommend that everyone check out Wysong pet food products (http://www.wysong.net). Their products have not been recalled, and my cats and dog love their food. For convenience, you can order online and have everything shipped right to your door.

"...Importantly, no Purina brand dry pet foods are affected by the recall – including ALPO Prime Cuts dry. In addition, no other Purina dog food products, no Purina cat food products, Purina treat products or Purina Veterinary Diet products are included in this recall, nor have been impacted by the contaminated wheat gluten supply." That's fantastic to hear -- and I accept as truth ---for now.

How did you do that? Please let me know as we have four animals that could be affected. Thank you.

Check the package to see if the product is from China. If it is, don’t buy it.

I’m switching my cat and dog to Canidae.
They do not have wheat or corn in their food and they manufacture here in the USA and do not deal with Menu Foods.
Hopefully, this will do.

Carolyn,

Here is the FDA recall site link:

https://list.nih.gov/archives/fda-recalls-l.html

As for the homemade dog food, I just boiled chicken and mixed the chicken broth with rice and mixed veggies. I have also put a fish oil tablet in it after reading how dogs need that. Below is another thread on making your own food. I told my vet’s assistant I was doing this, and she encouraged us to do so. They have cancelled all routine appts. because they have several sick dogs/cats with the symptoms at the Vet Hospital.

Let me know how your animals are, I hope they are okay. I just talked to a friend on the phone and her sister’s dog has been eating Alpo and has the symptoms of poisoning, she has the little Bijon (sp) at the vet now.

Thank you. My dogs are OK, so far anyway, as I feed them Purina One Senior with a little people food for flavor. I did read, however, that the jerky treats that I've been giving them may have been contaminated. When I get home, I'm going to check out the label.

My daughter has been feeding the canned Alpo Prime Cuts, and she had one can in the cabinet that was contaminated, according to the numbers. No way to know if she had fed others, as the cans went out in the trash. Her dogs are OK so far. What an awful situation. Thanks again for the info.

I may have misled you (unintentionally) about the wheat gluton in human food. Fox News is reporting now that there is none in there, but I had thought I read there was in another thread.

Sorry if I did.

I’ll still be checking labels and companies and don’t think I want anything to eat imported from China.
