It's your duty as a party member to go with the majority of party members.

Jawohl, Herr Kommissar.

I and many others place principles over party, and this is why in 2003 I left the Republican party. I am now a conservative independent.

I'm not willing to throw away 200 years of history because I disagree with a candidate on two or three issues.

You don't get it.

Re-read some of the responses on this thread.

This is the PRIMARIES. In the PRIMARIES, you support the most conservative Republican candidate whose conservatism can appeal to independents and non-voters. You don't support the most LIBERAL Republican in the field and then tell conservatives that they need to blindly support him.

And like another poster said, if Rudy wins the nomination, I'll cross that bridge when it comes. But for now, Rudy should NOT be getting conservatives' support.

It's not that simple for me. I am going to consider the candidates leadership qualities, his past record, his ability to reach a majority of Republicans and Independents with his message. In other words, can he win the election? There are some Republicans who are "very conservative" who don't stand a chance of winning the big prize. They are off my list.

Wonder how many times a day some one is called treasonous on this blog? It`s losing its meaning boys and girls.

What's best for the country is put a conservative in office. I'd prefer to do that in 2008. But, if the only choices are Hiltery and Julie-Anna, the only hope for conservative in the White House would be in 2012 if the former won.

We can`t survive four years of Ms Clinton. To make things worse, Bubba is part of that package.

I applaud you for doing so. When you get a working political majority, then you'll have a say in what happens.

I am also an independent. If it weren't for polls, I'd 'vote my conscience'. Since we have the reality of polls, we know that the candidacy comes down to two people, sometimes three. At that point one ought to vote against the worst, or for the best of, the realistic candidates.

In an ideal world, there would be no polls, everyone would just vote their conscience...but this is not a ideal world.

We survived eight years of Slick Willie, two with a Democratic congress. In fact, it was during that time, Republicans swept into power and we got our first balanced budget in decades.

So who is your candidate that we can all support? I'd like to support someone a little more conservative that can WIN and beat Hillary. PLEASE PRODUCE THAT PERSON soon. PLEASE!!!!

Most are waiting for Duncan Hunter to rise beyond his asterisk status, others are supporting equally unelectable candidates, and unannounced candidates. There are even some claiming to be Conservatives that will vote for Hillary over Rudy... you are asking the impossible of the "unappeasables." They have no real candidate.

That is my take on it as well. Rino Rudy will not get much traction in the south

He's getting plenty of traction and will get even more if he chooses a very conservative running mate.

NO conservative worth the name would ever side with such a flaming liberal.

It looks like conservative Republicans are willing to give Rudy a pass on his less than strict conservative social politics, rather than face a Billary White House for another 8 miserable years. So am I.

Based on your comment it appears you don't count yourself among conservative Republicans. How would you describe your politics?
