The IRS know who they all are and where they all are, but no one wants to do anything about it. Also, I found it odd that this articles doesn't mention the totalization proposal.

That would be George W. Bush's Social Security Totalization Agreement With Mexico?

Yes, that great humanitario, Bush, signed an agreement with Mexico that allows the millions of Mexican illegal aliens here in the USA to become eligible to apply for, and receive US Social Security retirement benefits after having worked (illegally) in the US for only 6 quarters (18 months). US citizens (read: you and I) have to work 40 quarters (10 years) before we become eligible.

In addition, the agreement allows the millions of Mexican illegal aliens to apply for, and receive benefits for their Mexican (national) wives and Mexican (national) children living in Mexico, even if the wives and children have never stepped foot in the USA.

So, not only does Bush want US citizens to pay US Social Security retirement benefits to the approximately 20+ million Mexican illegal aliens here in the USA, but wants us to pay US Social Security retirement benefits for their family back home in Mexico.

Isn't Bush a great man? </sarcasm>

"We should not steal their funds or empty their Social Security accounts," said Sen. Patrick J. Leahy, Vermont Democrat, during the debate. "That is not fair. It does not reward their hard work or their financial contributions. It violates the trust that underlies the Social Security Trust Fund."

Accounts? Since when did we have Social Security accounts, Mr. Leahy? ...or is it that the illegals have accounts but citizens do not?

I don't know why I should be expected to live by the laws while Congress allows 'special groups' to ignore our laws.

In 2004, "uncredited earnings" -- Social Security tax payments that can't be matched to valid Social Security numbers -- totaled $65 billion -- about 10 percent of the program's total income. The amount of uncredited earnings stood at $301.8 billion in 1999, but had grown to $585 billion by 2004, according to the Senior Citizens League report. ..

The government is raking in big bucks from illegals, what incentive do they have to stop it?

And this is why I must charge taxes to my credit card next month?

I don't object to the raking in. I see that as a fee illegals are being forced to pay for their presence here. Think of it as a fine on illegals that benefits American citizens. But I don't think that they should be able to collect, in effect, be rewarded for committing fraud. And, please no one lecture me about it being "unfair." The entire situation is unfair to the American people.

Social Security officially did away with the term "accounts" in 1969.

So much for Bush fixing Social Security.

He squandered all of the political capital he gained in the 2004 election on a Social Security bill that wouldn't have fixed it anyway, instead of working on things that he could have pushed through. He lost all his momentum.

And now he wants to break Social Security even sooner.

If I had been allowed to put the money I poured into the Social Security "Trust Fund" over a lifetime into my vested pension plan, I would have gotten four times as much out of it. And now, a lot of retirees may not get anything at all.

This is known as collectivism, one of the techniques of communism.

"Why in the world would we endorse this criminal activity with federal benefits?" the South Carolina Republican said..."

For the usual reasons, political gain at the expense of the electorate. I guess it all boils down to Jesus Christs' admonition to "love they neighbor". When our leaders love those who elected them as much as they love themselves, the illegal alien problem will get resolved in a hurry. Some ask, "what would Jesus say about building a fence, or deporting the poor who came here to work"? I answer them with a question of my own.
"Would Jesus want them to violate the immigration laws of a nation that is far more generous with immigration than any other nation in human history"? I find it hard to believe that He would. Jesus would surely want the poor of the world to have an opportunity to come to America, but I believe that He would want that immigration to occur in an orderly, organized and feasable fasion so that the immigration would benefit both the immigrants and the host country. It's hard to imagine that God would want chaotic, un-governed, mass illegal immigration, where the hosts don't even know whose entering their nation. If a man has the right to protect his house against intruders who would usurp his possessions, then he has the right to protect his nation against intruders. ("When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace; but when one stronger than he assails him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoil." - (Luke 11:21),

In any case, America simply cannot be the only option for the world's poor. This is not Heaven here, we are not some sort of Biblical Shangrila for the rest of the world. What Americans have they worked for, they fought for, they prayed for, and that hard work was rewarded, those prayers were answered. And we share our prosperity as no other nation. Maybe those "Third World" nations who envy us and try to exploit us should try the American recipe for prosperity; work hard, live as good Christians, and pray to God for prosperity. And form a good, healthy system of government, a system that does not allow tryants to rule over them and rape their economy, (such as is the case in Mexico, Venezuala, etc).

It's time to enforce our immigration laws before we become just another Third World nation and our own citizens find themselves looking for a more prosperous country to live in one day soon. And who will open their doors to us should that happen?

Our leaders have put the interests of illegal aliens and certain economic entities ahead of the interersts of our country as a whole.

If these numbers are accurate, then all Americans are indebted to the illegals for shoring up the failing SS system. If the illegals are legalized, they will still wind up getting far less out of SS than they put in (just like all others in America these days), so once again they're feeding the system, not draining it.

This argument is equivalent to "they're robbing us by not letting us rob them more!".

They know we're not up to the task of doing anything about it. Oh sure, we might vote a few out every now and then, but their replacements will be cut from the same cloth.

Like I said, this is the price they have to pay, a fine if you will, for being here. As far as I'm concerned, tough noogies.
