lol! That is classic!
"We are still suffering from the consequences of President Carter's inept administration."
Not to mention the consequences of his retirement.
I'll be sure to get Pictures as it passes through the bay.
Here is my best shot of one of our Carriers. Not sure which one though.
I don't think the Iranians want to pull the Lion's Tail to hard.
Impressive! This shows that Anglos rule the world today.

I would submit that this action isn't for the tweaking of the US or the UK but for internal consumption. I understand that the religious leaders are having trouble keeping the people in place and there is nothing like having an outside danger to bring the population back into the fold. I have read where the population don't like their government but would rally around it if attacked or threaten. My thoughts.
Have they tried sending a strongly worded letter?
Shut down the oil terminal at Kharg Island (easy to do). Tell them the flow will begin again within the hour of their being released. You are absolutely right. This is exactly the thing to do. But those running the show think Kharg Island is an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Release them or we shall taunt you again.
Not sure it's one of the CVN's. It might be an amphibious assault ship, made to launch helicopters carrying Marines, and Harrier jets.
The limeys won't put up with this. Given their penchant for understatement, when they say "We want them back" what they mean is something stronger, and I wouldn't call their bluff.
Please send us our troops or we will be forced to surrender...
We have a newer class, the LHD Wasp class that are even a little larger.
Although they have large flat decks, and can launch helos and jump jets, they are really not aircraft carriers like our large nuclear carriers.
Those vessels are 2 1/2 times as large and carrier up to 90 jet aircraft that launch from catapaults and land on the angled deck, being "trapped" by arrestor wires. They are much more capable in terms of the aircraft and their ability to project power, but they do not carry any assault Marines to put boots on the ground. That's what the vessels like the Nassau are for.
We have twelve of the large deck Amphibs and twelve of the very large carriers.
See the following site of mine for more info on all of the world's Aircraft Carriers and large deck Amphibious Assault ships.
That's funny, as I recall that Britain has lost over 100 soldiers in Iraq doing 'squat all.' We're the only friend the US has that is willing to lose soldiers in the WOT.
The Cornwall was under U.S. command...
Sure, the UK lost some soldiers. But face facts, the UK forces around Basra went out of their way to avoid confrontation with known and open Iranian backed forces and militias and allowed Basra to become a nearly uncontested and wholly owned Iranian supported stronghold that American forces are now going to have to crack.
All the while, the smarmy bast***s were preaching at us dumb Americans about "softly softly catchee monkee" bullcrap.
More Americans will have to spend their blood because the commanders in the UK forces practiced avoidance of confrontation whenever possible.
As far as friends willing to step up, all the Anglosphere has done so and all have taken their casualties as well.
And again, your lack of understanding is made obvious when you imply that this is not your war for your own survival as much as everyone else's. This is not just Americas War. All the west is at risk and anyone standing up is simply doing what is required of them in order to ensure their own survival. You aren't doing this as a favor.
And finally, there's this, as far as standing up in this war goes, all the signs that the UK is about to sit down are getting stronger and stronger. There is every reason to suspect that by end of this year, the UK will just be another member of the parasite league of the spineless EU do nothings.
