". . . although he only plays a lawyer on tv, mind you . . ."
He is a lawyer, mind yourself.
If all the present "unknowns" about FT shake out in his favor, and IF he runs, Fred Thompson could certainly win PA. Not to mention a few others that went for Kerry---Maine, NH, Delaware, Maryland. Moreover it wouldn't surprise me if he picked up Illinois and Maryland AND New Jersey. Put Hillary and/or Obama on the Dem ticket and Fred could win even bigger.
And I say that as a confirmed pessimist!
Even a straight shooter like Fred needs some time to formulate a policy on a problem as big as that. You can tell, basically, where he wants us to end up, but getting there is complicated.
This is the sort of thing that distinguishes leaders from representatives. We either trust them to lead right, or we don't; and if we trust them, we leave the details to them.
Fred's remarks to Laura yesterday, tell me he's on the right track with regard to the illegal aliens.
I'm just not seeing how people are making these sweeping landslide predictions for Thompson - not that many people outside the base even know he's a politician.
Have you ever listened to a FDT speech? He's got an FDR magic, a Reaganesque charm.
I've already discussed this with a few friends who lean liberal, though they're not flaming moonbats. THEY like him. I tell you, when a man has the right blend of personal qualities, people will find a way to overlook his politics and get him elected regardless. Ask any Reagan Democrat.
Do you think I like liking a man who helped midwife the CFR? But I do!
When I hear Fred talk, I react like Pert Kelton in "Music Man," when she heard the sales talk of Prof. Hill. She said: "Aahhhhhh..."
And it isn't just the tone, it's the conservative substance to go with it.
So go ahead, click on some of Sturm's links and listen to Fred. It will come to you too. :)
I don't. Black Americans live just like I do around here which is wellcome. I've been to a bunch of countries where color is meaningless. People are people and they all have hearts. i.e. a Nigerian mechanic fixed my Spanish Seat 127 in Alcala, Spain. Cheap. The guy that wrote the L.A. Times article needs to travel around some more.
Rush is also getting tiresome with those Al Sharpton-Barack Obama songs. Things do get old.
Exactly. What I heard from him is to build the wall and tell the Mexican Gov't they are going to get off the gravy train. In diplomatic terms, of course.
You made no offense to me to apologize for. We can continue the ethnic issue farther. The comic book L.A. Times printed the "Magic Negro" article. Rush said the author of that article with the German or Jewish sounding name is a Black dude. Today. And you think the Marxist Dialectic died a while back? Mrs. Bill Clinton is in this swill in some way.
It's not the word "Negro", it's the phrase "Magic Negro". And the black guy who wrote the story knows this. He's a typical dem, inciting others, stirring up the sh!t, then he'll sit back and point fingers and write more about how "racist" WE all are.
If you honestly don't understand, do some research on it. For instance, it's the phrase that harry belafonte called Colin Powell and Condi in explaining his "house Ni**a" comments.
Let's not give them any more ammunition. We need to give black conservatives reasons to trust and join with us, not the other way a round.
:O)
