If he runs, the Presidency is his to lose.

I think you're totally right on this. I hope he can see this too, and I hope he gets that "fire in the belly". Looking at all the other prospects, at least the ones with a legitimate shot at winning, I am not very optimistic.

Looking at Fred Thompson and considering a potential Thompson presidency....makes me want to crack open a beer and light a big fat cigar....take a long big drag and a swallow of brew, give a big sigh of relief and think that at least for awhile the USA will be in good hands again.

He IS the man. Now who will be his VP choice? I know I'm getting ahead of the curve but I do honestly believe he will be the nominee. The Hildabeast paired with the Magic Negro would stand NO Chance.>

He's for the wall. He's not for anything the Senate passed last year or what Bush wants like the f-ing "comprehensive immigration reform". He wants a delay to anything but enforcement until the American people trust D.C. to go farther.

I have a radio near any of the six systems I may be near on any day. I heard him on Laura today and somewhere else last week. This guy hasn't changed around the movie and TV industry. Actually, he said he was sort of pissed that the Mexican president would criticize the U.S. and lecture our elected people about our policies. That's why he read this piece on ABC radio.

Fred Thompson is gonna run and Fred Thompson is gonna win.

You're looking at the Next President of the United States...

I could see MN 51-48, WI 50-49, MI 51-48, or PA 51-49 all being potential pickups. Thompson would go over well, I think.

On the other hand, throw a New York liberal on our ticket and I'd see several red states turning blue.

Bush maximized turnout and margin of the base in 2004 - and couldn't win those states. independents provide the margin in those states, and I don't see why Thompson is going to be more popular then Bush. I would bet most independents who know of Thompson, only know him as an actor, don't even know he was a Senator.

"The Hildabeast paired with the Magic Negro would stand NO Chance."

You know, this "Magic Negro" Obama title in the L.A. Times is starting to piss me off. And I'm a white guy. He's a straight up guy, just a black liberal one.

The image I got from the "Magic Negro" reference is some black guy with a bone through his nose throwing a spell.

It only takes flipping 2% out of one column and into the other. You're blind if you haven't noticed that people are excited about Thompson running. That excitement is there for a reason. I don't know if I fully understand it myself.

As to the independents that may only know of him as an actor... a lot of his roles have been in positions of being in a position of authority or power. A lot of those people that only vote based on their perceptions may vote for him because he fits their image of a person that should be in the position of leader of the country. Again, there's a reason he GETS those roles. His appearance fits the position in people's minds. I certainly don't mind if those people that vote for him do it for that reason instead of his position on trade or anything else.

which "people" are excited about Thompson? people in the base who already vote republican. which independents are excited about Thompson?

FYI - with Richardson on the Dem ticket, they can easily flip NM, NV and CO because of the Hispanic vote in those states. and Ohio is going to be a big problem for any republican candidate.

The parity Shanklin came up with in one day was hilarious.
If you didn't catch it today on Rush tune in tomorrow as
I believe it will be one of the most requested ever.
By the way shame on you for the bone in the nose image.
It did not have that effect on me at all. I agree that
Barrey Hussein Obama is most likely a nice guy and obviously has a dream which he has every right to pursue.
My advice would be stay away from Ft Marcy and have someone
watching your back at all times.

Yeah. The people who are needed to raise the money and do the campaigning... and get people out to the polls to vote!

Independents don't get excited about anything, but they will follow the pack if they see somebody else excited about something.

As to Richardson... I doubt he'll be their nominee, but if you can think of some way of convincing the democrats to nominate him as their best chance of picking up states, I'm all in favor of it.

Personally, I'm more concerned about them nominating Gore, if Rudy would head up our ticket. I think Gore would trounce Rudy by picking up the gunowner vote in the heartland.

the base can't elect anyone on their own. the base couldn't save Talent, Santorum, Allen.

Richardson will be Hillary's VP.

Hey Doug, it's been a while since we talked. I screwed up the link. Go to nationalreview.com and scroll down until you get to the Southern Exposure link.

There is a link on that page near the header so you can hear Fred as he said this on ABC radio network on Paul Harvey's show.mp3

He mentioned on Fox News Sunday that he is aware of policies that would encourage illegals to return home of their own volition.

IOW, 'POLICY OF ATTRITION'.

The independents blew with the wind and voted democrat in a lot of cases this last election. It was just that kind of year for a lot of reasons.

I sure can't think of any case where it isn't better to have a energized base than an demoralized one.

Thompson is a mixed bag on his actual votes on immigration issues, but I guess his stand overall is better than the front-running alternatives.
