IF Plame was covert (and that's a mighty big if), the CIA obviously wasn't doing much to conceal her identity, nor was she.
Great read, worth reading the whole article.
Take the name (Plame) out of it, and the references to the gender (she, her), and substitute references to a male agent, and then submit this article to the internet and general public for reading, and I have no doubt that most people out there would conclude that the "agent" in question was a dope and the "spy that couldn't shoot straight" or the "agent that couldn't even spy on his neighbor" . People all over would be up in arms about the kind of people that our spy agencies were hiring and would conclude "no wonder we had no clue about 9/11 before it happened"..
Novak confirmed her employment with CIA headquarters. If you are covert, they do not give you up over the phone to someone calling in who would just like to know.
If CIA confirms your employment over the phone to a reporter, you are not covert.
And, as we all know, Novak is the one who outed her in print, and Armitage was his source. Neither of them were charge for outing her because, again, outing her was not a crime. She was not covert.
Blowing classified operations on page one of the New York Times, such as operations tracking Bin Ladin's sat phone, Al Qaeda cell phones, Al Qaeda money wire transactions, CIA safe houses, CIA black air transport flights, this certainly strikes me as meriting some serious counter-intel attention, prosecution, in fact whoever blew these operations ought to be occupying a cell in one of those secret prisons we supposedly keep scattered around Romania.
Real breaches of security were not addressed by our "special" prosecutor. Only a fake one.
Fitzgerald is guilty of an abuse of office. He had his information on day one of his supposed investigation, and spent 3 more years investigating, what? His fake investigation ranks right up there with Wilson's fake investigation, and the fake investigation of the Duke lacrosse team.
I bet she was used for the "Honey-Pot" entrapement.
Good points all, but Fitzfong doesn't care about anything except serving the interests of his fellow 'Rats..... he would have had nothing to do except close up shop if he'd been anything other than a vicious partisan Demagogue.
LoL...
Fitzgerald is a Republican
I think you are 100% correct. I read that Armitage told Fitzgerald that he was the one who had told that Plame was CIA, and that he had reported it to Colin Powell. Fitzgerald allegedly asked Armitage and Powell not to tell anyone that he knew, and then he, IMO, planned a trap for Libby or Rove - whichever one he could trap. Colin Powell was still Sec. of State at that time, and his first loyalty should have been to the President, shouldn't it? Therefore, Powell went along with a dastardly deed to embarrass the President. Shouldn't he be punished rather than honored for such a breach of conduct? I'm all for reducing his pension and Armitage's. They don't deserve it! I think they are equally responsible for the huge amount of money that was wasted on this fraudulent case. I would not want anyone as deceitful as Powell and Armitage on my payroll.
If Powell actually did that, then he is a Judas. However his pension would stand most likley.
Too much truth in this post...needs more cowbell
I never understood why SHE stayed home and didn't go on the trip with him since she supposedly knew more about WMD
Maybe because he was getting his 'business' started and these free trips from the CIA gave him a boost?
These trips covered a multitude of purposes. If his treasonous lying was the 'safe cover' to allow to be exposed, ya gotta wonder what other nefarious purposes he may have been up to.
The Shadow Government is so seamy. Are these people that shamelessly evil, or that psychotically stupid????
And here's Mrs. Wilson, now, ready for her CSPAN closeup....
