For an R-rated movie, that is impressive.

Couldn't agree more. Having grown up on 30's & 40's pulp sci-fi, "Sky Captain" blew my mind when I saw it in the theatre. I love that movie! BTW, can't wait to see "300".

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow was great.
300 could have been better. The visuals were great, but it was missing something. It is not an epic like Gladiator (2000) or Ben-Hur (1959). Sin City (2005) is a much better film.

My guess is after your hubby takes you to to the movies and gets you warmed up, he'll be able to "take you" again...

For an R-rated movie, that is impressive. Very impressive. It's on-track to have one of the highest grossing opening weekends for an R-rated movie. The R-rated film which holds the record for opening gross was "The Matrix Reloaded", and it made $92M for its opening weekend (I can't get just its Friday numbers for comparison)

The Spartans did NOT fight in leather speedo briefs! The movie is not meant to be a historically accurate depiction of Sparta and Persia. Get over it and just enjoy the damn movie already.

It's worth seeing. I would have preferred a movie version of Gates of Fire, but 300 will do.

WHAT!!??!! Are you saying that you can very possibly enjoy the 300 flick even if it doesn't explicitly contain liberal themes or depict the battle of Thermopylae as it actually really really honest-to-God happened? Good grief, don't tell me your interested in the movie because you dig the (HISS BOOO) comicbook that it is based on...that would be silly.

I don't plan on seeing this movie, but the left-wing forums are gnashing their yellow teeth about this.I have the book, and I plan to buy 30 copies on DVD.

Thanks jb - too bad there were so many red x's but the rest of the pics were intriguing. I'll most likely see it solo -the hub isn't into fantasy.

From their point of view it's those illiterate Americans who haven't been able to spell since Noah Webster screwed up American dictionaries. So deal.
LOL..... well, we Americans like to be independent.. and stray away from the Frenchie panzis, who wave the white flag of surrender if someone so much as points a finger at them...... :p

Hey, once upon a time, before the Internet, how often did you read anything written by a non-American? Oh, sure, maybe Churchill's memoirs, something like that, but even then often the American edition had the spelling adjusted.
Nowadays with the Internet many of the stories posted are from UK, Ireland, India, Australia, and they use British spelling.
I personally am not going to start putting a "u" in color or an "re" at the end of theater, but these foreign news sources are going to use "Britspell", so I follow my own advice. I deal.
Most of my Russian friends learned English over there and Europeans all use British English as the standard. So when Russians come to the U.S., guess what? They have to relearn their spelling rules.

Ok.... fair enough. :D
America has been a country (independent) for roughly 200 years. Britain has been a country/nation for around 2000+ plus years. (sorry if I'm a bit off :p)...
America is a very independent, self centered, arrogant, protect myself nation...
I can see that you are a reasonable person, unlike many Europeans.. And I respect that. Technically USA has no right to tell any other country what they should do... I'm not going to bring up all of the war time data between 1900-1945... Don't need to. (Man aren't we Americans arrogant..)
You are right.. most of the education I have received was from Britain (English anyway)... and I have no problem with that.
The most/best you can learn in your life is from past experience... whether from a play (theater/theatre) or from true past life experience.. (Sir Robert Peel, from where I learned about through my police academy in the USA, state of Texas)....
America is not original in it's makings.... It's original in what it cooks up to be it's makings. Canada is great; wish I live there know, in the Yukon.. fending for myself...
Spelling adjusted?! I can vaguely recall the 'movies' I had to watch between my 1st-3rd grade years in elementary school (of course they were mostly what the Native Americans did to the buffaloes....)
but much of what we had to study back then (1970s) was British.. and at such a young age, we didn't know/hear the difference. Hearing the difference came at a much older age.... and an age (between 10-15) that it was very personal. I only wish that I could know the language of my true ancestors (being from America, I guess that would be the Cherokee..... but also some mix of Irish within the last 2 or 3 generations...)...
I mean no bad blood here... We are all human, although, I don't agree with a religion that wants the elimination of anyone who is not of that religion... sorry, different topic altogether)...
Anyway... peace be with you brother..

"But Dick Cheney will cream himself." Who talks like this? The writer is obviously projecting his own perversions.Anyone who talks like this needs to be on the registry list that protects little kids. This guy is a real work of art!!!!!
