CAROLE KING – TAPESTRY

I wore the needle on my record player to stump playing this album over and over as a little girl.

Rush at #198? That ain't right. Put "Moving Pictures" somewhere in the top 20.

They're forgetting Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast.

Rush never gets the respect they deserve, and I doubt we'll live to see them inducted into the Hall of Fame.

I fully expect this so-called "list" to be politicized by including the anti-American "Dicksie Chix".

Re Post #6.

Damn. I hate it when I'm right. I didn't even look at the list.

There were four cassettes I literally wore out driving to college every day and that was one (others were by the Police, AC/DC and the Cars):

The moment I saw that, I stopped reading.

"Exit Stage Left" is also probably one of the best live albums ever recorded.

No comment on the inclusion of the DCs, but am a bit surprised to see Miles Davis' Kind of Blue on this list, seems a tad out of place.

Let me step out on a limb and suggest that this record may be one of the top 10 (non-classical) recordings of all time (and I am not a huge Miles Davis fan). Heretic that I am, I see it more as the piano guy's record (Bill Evans). The way I read it, Miles brought some ideas and Bill fleshed them out.

...this varied collection of some of history’s most influencial (sic) and popular albums ...

That's the problem with this list - lumping two categories together.

While "Automatic for the People" may have been REM's most popular album, "Murmer" was by far a much more influential album.

"2112" and "Fly By Night" aren't bad, either.

Oh, and let's not forget the effort Geddy Lee put towards Bob and Doug McKenzie's "Take Off (To The Great White North)". He is not a hoser, eh.

_______--

You're right - it should be in the top 50.

(I'm guessing you don't think it belongs at all)
