I very much doubt that all this has happened as the result of a completely innocent, aboveboard friendship or work relationship between Bill O. and Lisa. There is a huge difference between actual knowledge and doubt of innocence. You can post your opinion on as many threads as you wish, but they still remain.....your opinion.
Not fact.

You would do WELL to be at my level, mutley. You know nothing about me, as is proven with every post you make.

"CDR Oefelein is one of the finest pilots that the NAVY has ever produced, a man who can do magic things with an F-18, a TopGun Instructor who's efforts will have served to save the lives of many a pupil, and a first-rate officer."
Tell that to Nowak's kids. I'm sure they will appreciate it.
" I hope by POS, you mean PROFESSIONAL OUTSTANDING SERVICEMAN."
No I mean PIECE OF SH!T.
Please get off your knees and wipe your chin. If you think that having affairs with two subordinates, one of whom is married, is professional conduct("a first-rate officer") the Navy and Army have very different definitions of professionalism.

"It is also instructive to consider what anyone else might do spending 99 out of 100 hours away from their family our loved ones (because it aint always the same) with no one around except those you work with."
Well hell, that makes everything OK. Thanks for pointing out the most asinine comment of the week. So because my job is tough the wife/husband doesn't understand me. So sleep with me. F@CK the wife and kids. Brilliant!

Please get off your knees and wipe your chin. It is always instructive to read the rantings of idiots who would write things they wouldn't dare say to my face. The only way to excuse what you wrote, is to understand that you probably lack the ability to comprehend what you read.
Lovely what this site has become, though. Lovely.

I wonder what effect this scandal will have on Oefelein's career. I also wonder if he was already divorced when he started the affair with Nowak. I hear that he is a super nice guy, but it sure doesn't sound like it from these articles.

Are you sure about that? Isn't there an even higher standard of conduct for officers than for enlisted?

Oefelein's career is just fine, and because of those who ACTUALLY know what happened in this matter, there will be no action taken against him. He is not scheduled for a Shuttle mission anytime soon, but he will continue to train with his crew until or unless public pressure causes him to either go back to Active status, or he decides to do something else.
He IS a nice guy, one of the best around. He was not divorced, but you cant call what he was 'married' either.
Some people understand that there can actually be something in between.

I am waiting for someone to show me anything ANYWHERE to suggest that actual SEX took place. Until then, nobody knows what they are talking about here. 'Affair' can mean many things, romantic or not. Yeah, right. I'll be sure to tell my wife that I'm having an affair with two women at the office, four women from the gym and the nun at church. After all, according to you a common usage of the word refers to something other than illicit sex, so it shouldn't pose a problem. Right?
To: HighWheeler
Are you sure about that? No, because CLEARLY, I know nothing about the Navy.
I'm sorry, I hate to be sarcastic, but this thread is ridiculous.

'Common usage' is no substitute for a fact. You're obviously emotionally invested in this guy. I'm afraid that it's interfering with your judgment.

Address please.

There really is no way to excuse a shrill for an adulterous home wrecker. Is his behavior really OK with you?

Maybe I just know a bit more about this than you think, and realize what fools many of you are making of yourselves. Part of me hopes it ALL comes out, but for the sake of those involved, I hope it wont.
But that said, please dont worry that I give two shakes what you personally think of me.

Uh huh. What's already out there in public is damning enough to stand on its own, notwithstanding your attempts to salvage this clown's reputation.

I understand 'em. They're soft. They smell good. And they're nuttier than squirrel poop, every last one of 'em.Why thank you.

Bill O. says a bit more about his relationship with Lisa here.
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2007/03/06/national/a131102S29.DTL
"The e-mails, along with statements taken from Oefelein and Shipman, confirm publicly for the first time that Oefelein had a romantic relationship with Nowak. It lasted two or three years before he broke it off to date Shipman late last year.
Oefelein said he considered Nowak to be one of his best friends at NASA.
"We had a relationship but, you know, never really said the word `girlfriend,'" Oefelein told investigators. "We were somewhat exclusive. Nobody prohibited anything, but I would consider her exclusive for a period of time."
Lisa, you threw it all away for this clown. Notwithstanding her wrecked marriage, I think Bill O.'s ex-wife got the last laugh in this sad story.

Speculation, rumor, conjecture and uninformed opinion are only damming to those who care about such things. That 'clown' is a better human being than you will ever be, and were the situation reversed, he would be the first man to defend you against speculation from the cheap seats.
