That sounds worse than ever. Let's hope word gets to the right people and something is done to streamline the seating process.

Were you all at CPAC? Where did you get together? Patriot 1 and I were there also. We sat near the front most of the time. It was awesome.

Yes we were. nutmeg and zelig are both from my area (CT) and we arranged to sit together at the banquets.
The rest were those that we knew already by sight.
Sorry we missed you, maybe next year we can have a FReeper booth again, so FReepers can meet each other.
>It was awesome.
It most definitely is. I am coming back for a long as I am able.

I got locked out of one of the events by going to the bathroom, myself.
The line was down the hall and the people at the door, basically said, "get in line".

We always got together in the lobby/bar annex just inside the main entrance. We had the power table, with several notables coming over to visit. Even Newt Gingrich stopped by for a photo op while we were there. Sorry we missed you.

We did run into Patriot 1 at one of the events. My husband and I both remember meeting you and Patriot 1 from the first FR cruise back in October 2001.
I was glad to hear ACU/CPAC leader David Keene announce that this year's CPAC was "the biggest ever", but it seemed SO crowded at times. And with so many people there (and in a big venue like the Omni Shoreham) it made it very difficult to meet up with FRiends, as we used to do back in the "old days" at the Crystal City Marriott.

Of course now that we're used to it, it sounds like the ACU is going to change the venue again next year... :-(

I did take those pics. I don't know why all the photos of Sam Brownback were blurred.

That's terrible! That shouldn't happen to Diamond Package attendees. Not to be a snob, but we're the ones who are subsidizing the students' trips to CPAC. (They pay only $25 to attend CPAC, minus the banquets) I'm very happy to help bring down the costs for college students, but the ACU needs to do something about the number of attendees. They overdid it this year with the students... they had to know there were too many attendees to comfortably fit into that giant ballroom (and not to exceed the fire code limits).
As I mentioned in #120, the same thing happened to me, but I pretty much argued my way back into the ballroom. Geesh, my husband, jacket and briefcase were still there... my jacket was on my empty chair! I felt bad going to the head of the line ahead of the hundreds of students waiting to get in, but what else was I supposed to do? I left merely to use the bathroom, which was pretty far from the ballroom, unfortunately. Our friend from Canada did the same... she missed pretty much all of Rudy Giuliani's speech.
The ACU really needs to get a handle on this for next year and manage the crowds better...

With neither the DC Chapter nor the network having a table/booth, it was probably very hard for freepers to meet one another. The booths used to be such a great place to hang out, and eventually every freeper who was at CPAC would come by.
Unless we want to start doing a table/booth again, which is expensive and a lot of work, better planning might have to be done ahead of time so that there is a meeting place/hangout. And maybe a hotel room, which would be a lot cheaper than a booth.
