Rudy Giuliani Supports Partial Birth Abortion.
Don't Support Rudy Giuliani.

[GEORGE] WILL: Is your support of partial birth abortion firm?
Mayor GIULIANI: All of my positions are firm. I have strong viewpoints. I express them. And I--I do not think that it makes sense to be changing your position....
ABC News February 6, 2000

TUCHMAN: Giuliani was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions, something Bush strongly supports.
GIULIANI: No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing.
- CNN December 2, 1999

BLITZER: If you were in the Senate and [President Clinton] vetoed, once again, the [ban on the] so-called partial-birth abortion procedure, you would vote against sustaining that against the -- in favor of the veto in other words, you would support the president on that.
GIULIANI: Yes. I said then that I support him, so I have no reason to change my mind about it.
BLITZER: All right. So the bottom line is that on a lot of these very sensitive issues whether on guns, abortion, patients' bill of rights, taxes, you are more in line with the president and by association, with Mrs. Clinton, than you are against them.
- CNN February 6, 2000

MR. RUSSERT: A banning of late-term abortions, so-called partial-birth abortions--you're against that?

MAYOR GIULIANI: I'm against it in New York, because in New York...

MR. RUSSERT: Well, if you were a senator, would you vote with the president or against the president? [Note: President Clinton was in office in 2000]

MAYOR GIULIANI: I would vote to preserve the option for women. I think that choice is a very difficult one. It's a very, very--it's one in which people of conscious have very, very different opinions. I think the better thing for America to do is to leave that choice to the woman, because it affects her probably more than anyone else....

MR. RUSSERT: So you won't change your view on late-term abortion in order to get the Conservative Party endorsement?

MAYOR GIULIANI: It isn't just that. We shouldn't limit this to one issue. I'm generally not going to change my views
- NBC Meet the Press, February 6, 2000

***Note: the version of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban that Giuliani opposed in 2000, that he said he supported Bill Clinton in vetoing the Republican-controlled Congress's legislation, contained the exception for the life of the mother that Rudy is now trying to pretend is a prerequisite for his support of it.

They needed to do a poll to figure this out?! I could have told them years ago that there is no way that the conservative GOP base was going to get behind a pro-abortion candidate for national office.

For Rudy, an educated voter is his worst enemy.

"The new poll also found that half of GOP voters said there is no chance they would support Giuliani because of his pro-abortion views."

Just wait until the NRA starts sending out newsletters about how Rudy interprets the Second Amendment!! LOL!

Yeah, Rudy is just what the GOP needs. /s

More proof he would be a disaster for the Republican party in the general election and for its continuation as a viable party.

Ronald Reagan would have chosen political defeat, rather than to compromise on the sanctity of human life.

If people want an abortion-friendly President, they need look no further than the Democrat Party, plenty of candidates over there to choose from.

The survey also asked that "Given his position on abortion," is there a chance the respondent would vote for Giuliani for the Republican nomination.

GOP voters were split down the middle with 49 percent saying yes and 49 percent saying no.

Based on the field, Rudy would secure the nomination with between 35 and 40%.

A brokered convention may be my only hope.

Why aren't you in this thread? Girl as young as 13 to get morning after pill

Face it.....abortion in one way or another is unfortunately never going to stop. I think you're wasting your time hating Rudi over this issue. Let's talk about muslims wanting to behead us.

Wrong question. The proper question is: "Given the choice of voting for Hillary or Rudy in 2008, who would you pick?" For many, this poses a true dilemma: two choices, both bad.

Regardless of your position on abortion, that issue will ultimately be decided in the courts, not the executive branch. While the President does appoint federal judges, I don't even want to guess where this issue sits in terms of deciding who become federal judges.

Check your calendar. The General election is way off. We're in the primary election and none of the Republican candidates are running against Hillary right now.

This puts me in mind of the admittedly clever, but anti-Hunter image posted atop the "Hunter's On the Move!" thread.

It immediately made me think of a comparable one with the slogan "Rudy On Top and About to Really Take Off!" showing him in a bobsled atop a mountain peak, with the bobsled beginning to tilt downward.

"Given the choice of voting for Hillary or Rudy in 2008, who would you pick?"

Imagine the results if they asked "Given the choice of voting for Hillary, Rudy, or someone else in 2008, who would you pick?"

This may be the best year ever for a third party.

Yes. I've been accused of being a "one-issue" voter because I am against pro-abortion candidates. But when you ask Rudy supporters why he is the one to be President - they always say because he would be tough on the WOT. Apparently that is the whole reason. TALK ABOUT A ONE-ISSUE VOTER!

Maybe he would be tough on the WOT - but he is by no means the only one who can lead us on this - and on almost all of the other issues that are important to me - he is not good. I happen to believe that all of the current Republican candidates would be tough on the WOT - so I now compare them on the other issues & Rudy fails miserably. I would support almost any of the others before I would support him.

They are also basing his candidacy on him being the only one to beat Hillery - this is crap - as I don't even believe there is that much of a chance she will be the dim candidate.

Talk about polarizing - Rudy & Hillery are that! Both of them need to go.
