a meteor streaking overhead, white hot, which then broke up into orange, glowing fragments. Barry O'bama's political story...

I saw one a while back here in Michigan. Apparently I was the only one to see it.

It happens pretty quickly. Lucky you happened to be outside at that moment and looking the right way.
I've seen many, many meteors over the years, but never one that bright. When I was younger I used to lie on the dock or the beach in the summer and watch the Perseids. You might get a faint one every few minutes.

maybe it was some of the chinese satellite that blew up. I've read that the mess that has made in space is unblievable and that at some big meeting in europe they are going to get chewed out (like that's going to hurt)

I also saw one a few nights ago that appeared to break up into sparkly pieces just before it "flamed out"

Between the chinese anti-satellite test and that russian upper stage that blew up over Australia recently, a lot of debris is up there and will be coming down for decades. I wonder if this was some of it?

I saw it!!
Was outside by my worktruck, brilliant blue light then saw it burst into thousands of pieces that died out nearly instantly.
The sherriff's office and fire crews recieced numerous calls on 911, were in my area and contacting Athens Ben Epps airport.
I only saw it for about two seconds- put shivers down my spine...
