Had a Austin Healy Bugeye Sprite...Not many of us ex-Bugeye drivers around. LOL! Dang, that was a fun car! Simple - no trunk lid, no windows, no AC, no PS. Turn signal was a toggle switch on the dash....ummm facia. I later moved up to a 64 Sprite with roll up windows - drove it from Charleston AFB to Travis AFB, CA. The 64 had the big 1100cc engine rather than the 948cc engine in the Bugeye....now those seem so tiny.

Yeah, that gorilla doesn't mind the rain!
Beautiful car!

I have to comment on the muscle cars. The convertible Baracuda was nice, but the rest of the Dodge cars were just down right ugly and that's why they are rare. There were just a lot of better looking fast cars on the market, maybe not as fast as these muscle cars, but a lot better looking. What about the 442? That was a cool car, or the Shelby Mustang?

Very cool!
See, the reason we talk about our past cars...
Similar to mine, but mine was green!
Is that our old cars were cooler than our current ones!
LOL!

"Geez!! $4111!! Unreal!
Well, at the time, that was almost two years of college tuition INCLUDING room and board. Wow things have changed, especially the value of a US$." No kidding,
In '66 my first new car cost a bit over $2K and was a one-of model in Arizona & later an unheard of model in Maryland.
My Falcon routinely upstaged Mustangs, 'Vettes, and (Datsun) Fair lady's. (All of which I drove at the time and most of which gave ground to the 289 3-speed Sport Coupe).
My second new car cost a bit over $3K in 1972. It ran like a bandit but was showing signs of smog control and PC that had crept in during the intervening years.
Today I have a 40 year old car in the body shop that will cost me over twice that to get back and has a pot load of cash invested prior to [this] paint job.

OMGosh!! I always wondered what would happen if you wrecked a car on a test drive! I assume your insurance company would cover you?

Those were the days!!!
FYI, and not to be nit-picky at all, your adventure may have taken place in '69, but the first Challenger came out as a '70 model, and the fancy shifter on the Torqueflite auto was known as the Slap Stick.

I hear ya! Wouldn't that be cool?
