7 years ago , I was so impressed when I read this.
Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!
Are we still conservative? Is it about winning now, or taking back our country? Are we having fun?

What are you, a nazi. You seem to love the control factor. Please provide an example.
Are you saying you agree with the post I was taking issue with?
To: CindyDawg
I hope you weren't offended that I answered him that way. I knew exactly what you were talking about, you were talking about a conservative victory.
I really was coming to your defense on that "what're you smokin'" comment. I thought it was rather condescending.

Oh sorry, I was referring to you calling someone the taliban? #136
It's pretty outrageous to call someone either of those names.
I would say Margaret Sanger fits that category though, and Rudy loves and admires her. #76

This was the post I was taking issue with:
If this country actually elects giuliani I hope the republican party burns for it.
Do you agree with that?
I think my question to that poster was appropriate.
To: Delphinium
I agree about the last part (shocked that Giuliani would praise her), but you need a close-quotation on the part that Giuliani actually uttered.

I was thinking more like the scene from "Revenge of the Nerds" where the football players dressed as women for a skit.

They think the elections are a horserace. Yay, my candidate won!!!
That's not the issue. Working for the best candidate who will beat the worse candidate is the answer. We still have a great deal of time to work for Hunter or some other conservative. It's too early to settle for less.

I find it amazing how people will freely use an opinion piece by a leftist as evidence to support their theory that a particular candidate isn't conservative enough. If you don't think Giuliani doesn't keep good company, what about you?

"New York Ferrets' Rights Advocacy"
Notice that this is a "Ferrets' Rights" outfit, not a "Ferret Owners' Rights" outfit. I've never heard of it. I knew a ferret owner once, I'm not taking a side in the ferret wars, nothing against ferrets. But there's a big difference between "Ferret Owners' Rights" and "Ferrets' Rights."
This could be some kind of "animal rights" group. And it's possible, since it was New York based, that Giulliani had prior interaction with or knowledge of this guy who called in. If the radio host cut the guy off, he may even have been some kind of nutter. The point is, we don't know the background here. Anybody from New York City in the late 90's who could shed some light on this?
I'm undecided about Giulliani, but this whole ferret thing is definitely not going to be what decides it for me.
I hope I have not offended any Ferret-Americans with this posting.

I was thinking more like the scene from "Revenge of the Nerds" where the football players dressed as women for a skit. I've notice that reality shows have the men dress as women and the women strip off - it breaks down inhibitions.
Also, there are usually drugs/booze involved.
