CC I think the difference is that conservatives know what is right and wrong, but they don't want to force others to make the right choice on every detail of their lives. That was probably not a very good explanation...

It's just labels....libertarians are conservative, they just don't like someone else telling them what they can or cannot do in their personal lives. That's why most pot smoking conservatives are libertarian.

I think I'm a little naive also, I once asked my brother in law and nephew who are both in law enforcement why they spend time prosecuting prostitutes. If women want to sell their bodies, let 'em..... They proceeded to explain to me all of the complications that come with prostitution, it doesn't exist in a vacuum, it's associated with drugs, robbery, etc. So maybe my live and let live mentality is wrong.
