I have the hardest time having conversations with parents who bray on and on about how good their government schools are.

That is the story of my relationship with my parents. They love the public screwl system and have never supported my wifes efforts to homeschool our 8 kids. It makes for a really bad relationship.

Us and most of our friends homeschool. My mom is OK with it but does tend to favor the public schooled cousins. My brother and his wife hate us anyway, so they get in jabs whenever possible. Last time he was over, he insulted my children so badly to my face that he came really close to being invited outside.

In'Laws are pretty good too. They can all see that my kids have been turning out pretty good. All slightly above average in most areas.

OH NO, what in the world did he say?

My parents and ex-sister, I've disowned her, are extremely liberal. I never see my ex-sister anymore and the relation ship is balanced on a razor blade with my parents. We can hardly discuss anything, even weather and our health is off limits because weather leads to global warming which they buy completely and health leads to universal health care.

When they complete kindergarten, we made a big deal about it with a dinner out and a framed diploma. My four kids are three years apart each, so by the time my last one got his diploma on the wall, the oldest was pushing 16. My brother decided to mention how stupid my older kids were because they had only graduated from kindergarten.

That was the final straw after several other equally insipid comments.

They even try and get the kids to wear Black armbands, Black tshirts and pay tribute to the fallen gays with HIV called the Day of Silence. I told the Principal if they had a clue they would be honoring our TROOPS instead of HIV gays who have passed the Virus on to others without Morals.Sad thing is many Parents aren't aware this program exists.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Are these parents asleep?

OK,,,so let's look at this from a First Amendment perspective:

1) Those children who don't want anything to do with homosexuality are forced to associate with others that are proselytizing like crazy for it. I thought we had a First Amendment, (and God given), Right to free assembly? Yet, any child who does not have the alternative for private or home schooling is threatened with juvenile detention and/or armed police escort if he refuses to attend his government school indoctrination camp. Once in his government indoctrination camp he is forced to "assemble" with those of the government's choosing.

2) There are MANY people with religious beliefs that oppose homosexuality. Yet, the government forces children into indoctrination camps, and then proceeds in every manner possible to destroy their religious beliefs, and proselytize them into accepting a religious worldview that accepts homosexuality. Huh?...I thought we had a First Amendment Right regarding the establishment of religion?

3) Then their is the First Amendment Right to free expression of religion, free speech, and free press. Woe to the child who is not entirely PC correct with regard to homosexuality. If the child exercises his First Amendment Right to speak out against homosexuality, that child will be charged with a hate crime, he will be pilloried and mocked publicly, and pro-homosexual teachers will lower his grades.

So...why do parents and others stand for this. Why are government schools still in existence? They should have been abandoned long ago.

Last year, the club distributed a ribbon everyone was encouraged to wear for a week. Many refused, in spite of pressure from their "more tolerant, more enlightened" peers. My son was one who refused.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Good for your son!

But,,why is the government forcing your child to associate with others pressuring him to give up his religious, political, and cultural beliefs regarding homosexuality? ( "with the official backing of the faculty, of course")

There is a problem here with the First Amendment Right to freely express a religious belief, a right to freely assemble or not assemble with pro-homosexual people, and a prohibition against government establishing a religion. Well....It seems to me that the government school in this case is working hard to destroy the religious belief of some students, while at the same time establishing a worldview ( with religious consequences) in favor of homosexuality.

That happens, but I think more often it's cooler to be friends with a victim. Shows you're seeeensitive.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Perhaps it is merely safer to identify with homosexuals. If the student doesn't, the faculty will find ways to ridicule the student publicly, and lower their grades, and the students will make life a living hell.

It's really quite simple if you ask me. That or your child's future?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Why is the government giving education away for free to people who can afford a "fancy car w/the payment/higher insurance/maintenance,"? Obviously, this parent can afford private school tuition. Hand them a bill!.... Then, lower school taxes on everyone.

R-I-I-G-H-T. Anyone who assumes a club with a name like "Gay-Straight Club" has ANYTHING to do with sex should get their minds out of the gutter.

Very funny! :)

You may be right, but I think we just have a real tendency here to identify with the underdog, and the victim card allows the homosexuals to do just that.
