The ruthless, messianic, megalomaniacal state-backed demagogue vs. the ruthless, messianic, megalomaniacal non-state actor.

excellent post and excellent article.

at first Meyer's style seems a little simple but then again it *does* seem like its targeted for CEOs, who are often fairly simple minded people whose success is often that they get to the essence of things and cut throught the BS...

i'd say Meyer nails the essential issues of the next decade or two pretty well.

Meyer is widely credited with being the first senior U.S. Government official to forecast the Soviet Union's collapse.

The man's vision remains very good, in my opinion.

"Rudy and Hillary exist on the same continuum, voting for either one is to vote against conservative principles."

Exactly right --and the reason is they both want the US to become "integrated" with the European mentality, which, as someone else once said has been busy "aborting, buggering and contracepting itself out of existence.

One item the article didn't mention in more detail is the profound cultural impact that 20M illegal (read that Mexican) aliens will have on the U.S. in both political and social terms.

It's my opinion that illegal aliens do in fact come here for economic reasons --look at how many billions of dollars they transfer back to families in Mexico. They couldn't give a rat's -$$ about the principles of liberty and freedom as articulated by our Founding Fathers.

Given the unholy trinity of Rudy/Hillary-type politicians who believe in the same public policy objectives regardless of party, coupled with rampant and uncontrolled illegal immigration, coupled with the IBM's and GM's who's vision is "globalization", I'm not optimistic that the U.S. will escape the fate of Europe.

Indeed. But is anybody listening?

It would be interesting to look at the conservative vs liberal birth rate. Is western civilization heading toward extinction, or is it simply the liberal subclass?

I don't know if he is correct about China. My understanding is because of the 1 child policy and the higher abortion rate for girls (which the author notes) China has demographicproblems as severe as Europe or Japan.

Very Interesting!

This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for the perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author all 100% to feel the need to share an article.) I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of the good stuff that is worthy of attention. You can see the list of articles I pinged to lately  on  my page.
You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about). Besides this one, I keep 2 separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson and Orson Scott Card.

Thanks for the ping as always, Mia.

I happen to have started reading "America Alone" by Mark Steyn this weekend -

His take isn't quite as optimistic, but he gets around to the same point: There are big changes underway, and people will either be watching Oprah, etc, or they'll be paying attention.

That is to say, people in the US will either be voting Democrat, or "something else".

thx OKSooner.

Our survival may very well turn on breeding rate, i.e.,
the libs going the way of the dinosaur before the islamofascists reach critical mass.

The world’s most effective birth control device is money...The quickest way to drop the birth rate is through rapid economic development.

Hmmm. No mention of the 2 million babies that are aborted each year in America, which to me seems to be the "most effective" and the "quickest."

Thank you so much, Mia, for pinging me to this very important essay. I'm sending it around via e-mail a.s.a.p.

Question for you: Do you know if there is a web location where one may download past editions of Word? ... I'm having trouble getting documents arranged with page numbers, etc. and would like to revert my computer to a past edition of Word so I can insert things and I don't want the latest copies of Office.

Well, Steyn puts it that way, but the way I see it Liberalism is a mindset, and unfortunately it's a mindset that the media, pop culture, and public skools have a vested interest in.

you are probably right - between the childless gays and lesbians and the boutique abortions chosen by liberal women as if they were getting a face lift, the left may be the modern age's equivalent of the Shakers, and will die out in a generation...[i hope they hurry up already]

p.s. - i for one think your graphics are just great!
