I guess Jonah ran out of good ideas.

Bill Clinton did give us the first house and senate in a LONG time, but look what they did with it, they went on the defensive instead of showing they had a pair.

They LIKE being the minority, I don't know why.

We're SO close to rebuilding the Supreme Court and let's not forget the other courts that are poisoned as well, even if you're a social conservative you NEED to vote for the "R" even if it Rudy, etc., just for the JUDGES.

The JUDGES have more to say about the social issues than any politician, unfortunately.

There are times you have to be pragmatic, considering the predictable Islamic response to a Hillary Presidency, I say 2008 is THE time, even if it's your ONLY time, to be pragmatic. I'll even vote for (shudder) McCain, who I despise if it stops another Clinton Presidency.

"A strong effort to retake the House or Senate or both will be the best offense the republicans can take."

Sorry, can't agree with you there, mate. We're setting our sights to win the war on all fronts.

WE WILL HAVE MORE THAN ONE 9/11 (OR WORSE) IN 2008 OR 2009. It's practically a given!

Or not. Probably we'll have "peace". Not the kind of 'peace' we want, though: The Dims may simply give whatever the Islamofacists ask and EU demands.

"as long as he's fully qualified and marketable. Once we zero in on the candidate who can pull together the coalition and is capable enough to slay the beast, the money and support will roll in. "

I totally and completely agree with your entire post. Well said!

My point is only, that since the Dems are already running and getting a lot of publicity, and I think we need to identify an actual person and that person needs to demonstrate that he has the capability as you describe, in short order.

Some 20% of Republicans in NY actually DID vote for Hillary in 2006.

"It is insanity, but I see a glint of logic in the argument. Essentially, maybe a terrorist attack under a DemocRAT president *might* just jar the Democrat peacenik's grasp on reality, and force them to accept the reality that the Republicans subscribe to."

America is screwed no matter what. The Republicans are stupid. The media is evil and the Democrats are stupid and evil and lunatics. The Democrats think America deserves to lose the war on terror and they want us to lose. I hate them.

I actually reread it a couple of times, because some suggested that it's just "tongue-in-cheek", i.e. semi-joke.

But even after rereading it, it still seems to me that it's more like "I'll take my marbles home, and let's see how YOU can deal with the problem" type attitude, which, of course is totally disastrous to us.

We can't be quitters in the political fight, because the real fight against the terrorists is so dependent on it.

Get real man! defeatists and traitors are always defeatists and traitors whether they have power or not, whether they have the Congress or not, whether they have the Presidency or not. The traitors and defeatists in the democrats party will stop the fight the moment they take power.

Are there any current or recent conservative governors? They would have the best chance.

Haley Barbour, but he's running for reelection here and has emphatically stated he will fulfill his term, upon his reelection.

A vote for Giuliani is the primary election is a vote for the Democrat in the general election. You will have mathematically eliminated the possibility that a Republican will win if you nominate Giuliani.

Well, let's see the math and the hard data that supports your assertion. Thanks.

I think we should not be looking for the "FR style Conservatives" because A there is none running like that and B they are not going to win a general elections if they are "FR style conservatives:. The Republican candidates still have an edge over Hillary Clinton or Obama if one of them is the democrat presidential nominee in 2008.

Hillary Clinton will destroy herself because she has a very nasty and very mean character that she cannot hide and the media cannot cover it for her and thus she will turn of the majority of voters away from her a an early stage during the campaign.

Obama is simply too stupid to win.

In my opinion, the only one who can win the Presidency in the democrat party if he runs is AL Gore.
