I never said any such thing. Those are all your words.

I said that a liberal is a liberal is a liberal. Support a liberal against a liberal, and no matter what, the country is going to get a liberal, and liberalism. Is this too tough a concept for you?

Good perspective. We need to keep things prioritized.

We need to keep things prioritized.

Yep. Principles first. Everything else falls into place if and when you take care of that.

Apparently it's too tough a concept for you to see that by sitting out the election, you are allowing Hillary or Obama to win, who will make sure MORE unborn babies are murdered and will be certain to pick judges to allow the killing to continue well into the future. Romney will want to be re-elected, and will choose judges that the base approves of.

You'll allow Hillary or Obama to win, who will immediately try to pull our troops out of Iraq before their job is complete, letting the extremists win, and have ample opportunity to shoot us in the back as we retreat.

You'll allow Hillary or Obama to win, who will move to redistribute more wealth through higher taxation, larger entitlement programs, and burdensome government regulation and barriers to trade.

To you, "a liberal is a liberal." A centrist Republican is not a liberal, but I know you'll never understand that. And you'll never understand how bad things can be under the next Democrat reign, where the socialists will have control of the White House and both houses of Congress, and will begin undoing much of the inroads we've made in the judiciary over the last several years.

You'll never understand any of this, and I will never, EVER understand how conservatives like you can live without a shred of common sense or pragmatism. I will NEVER understand how you think it benefits your cause or sways FReepers to support your candidate when you call them "liberals," "turncoats," "traitors," and "RINOs."

It might be better for my blood pressure to stay away from Free Republic until after the election.

Perhaps that would be for the best.

I will NEVER understand

And I will never understand how someone with your screenname could find common cause with baby-killing, gay marriage promoting liberals.

I'd love to see more from Hunter...

Me too. I found this. I think he's great. It is far from one issue that I agree with him on. I agree with him on every issue I have heard him speak about. On top of that, I know he means it.

I know he is not exactly topping the polls at this point. But it is way too early in the process for me not to go straight for my first choice. If I do this nearly alone, if too many conservatives have too little faith in the salability of their ideas or too little faith in the process such that it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy or if simply too few people hear of him, then that's a shame. But, for now, I will support the guy who stands for what I believe in and hope that I'm not alone. If he doesn't win, it's not all for nothing. Reagan didn't get in on his first try.

"For some candidates," Hunter says, "the conservative constituency is an inconvenience. For me, it is my hope."

I meant we have to prioritize the principles.

I meant we have to prioritize the principles.

That's easy. We go with the founder's priorities. They listed our God-given, unalienable rights in order of importance:

Life
Liberty
Private property

My favorite candidate is not making me choose some principles over others, and I think he has a much better grasp of the priority issues that our country faces than Romney who sounds to me like he's running for Class President.

Interesting list. Did you notice that eight of the ten on that list got there with actions? Romney was one of the two who got there with words.

Romney is the slimiest of the slimy. I positively despise the man. I don't trust him, I don't like him, and I don't want to see his face or hear his voice.

... Romney camp ... seems to clearly recognize that they lack credibility ... they've opted to close that gap by spreading around barrels of cash ...

And there is the basic problem with American politics today. Cash will fix all problems according to professional political consultants.

Yeah, the way he turned his back on the Boy Scouts when he was CEO of the Olympics and the MA health care program were enough for me. Romney can kiss my butt; he'll never, ever get my vote.

I don't know the answer. Hunter is a great guy - solid as the day is long. He'd make an excellent president and he has my vote.

Huckabee isn't a bad sort either, but he's a little too "make nice" like Bush for me to get as excited about him as I am about Hunter. We're in CA, so we've followed Hunter's congressional work rather closely. He never fails to impress.

Are you aware that he shafted the Boy Scouts while he served as CEO of the olympics, bowing to pressure from NBC homosexuals and their corporate brethren and activist sympathizers?

Romney is a backstabbing bastard, tried and true. I'll eat ground glass before I vote for the SOB.

Oh, and I agree totally with your assessment of the man.

I think he's the biggest fraud of anyone in politics today.
