I just finished reading the 2004 thread that was used to try to slander Hunter. I got to say it is the most pathetic attempt by anyone I have ever seen at FR.

Thanks for the input---appreciate it---especially since you have excellent political instincts.

I certainly agree that I'd rather have Kerik (who may have done a good JOB but was ethically challenged in a before-the-fact sense) than Berger, whose outlandish criminal behavior, stealing documents etc., was ON the job. I just think we can do better than both men.

My main point, though, was that while this (posting) is a legitimate issue, still it seemed odd to bring up a 1999 article ITSELF (as opposed to a newer article that referenced the 1999 matters) in the "News" forum.

Kind of reminds me of the Recall in 2003 and the old pOsse that was so convinced that you know who was it.. and rode roughshod over anyone who begged to differ...

only to find out later,, they stepped in 'it'.

The similarities are striking.

I look forward to May 3rd and an real actual debate of sorts.

declining to pursue... is not the same as being cleared.

we saw that with the OIC and the Clintons.

"Have I told you lately, your naivete is one of your most attractive traits?" Well I have so many I lose track of all the compliments.

Most of the article discusses the period AFTER Rudy was US attorney. It speaks of the contributions during the 90s when Rudy was Mayor or running for the office.

But knock yourself out in trying to prove Rudy was bribed not to do his job. Why would he bother with peanuts when he could have had tens of millions from the Outfits he busted? La Cosa Nostra couldn't bribe him but some Russians could? LOL, a riot.

Well, I don't know specifics about the GOP apparatus in CA shutting down debate over Arnold's being its chosen (and SOLE) candidate. I do know that Arnold said an awful lot of the right things -- remember the John Coupal-introduced radio ad in which Arnold complained about being "tax tax taxed" in all aspects of life? -- and has been a horrible disappointment.

#1. I never tried to say anyone was charged.

#2. My comment about how some congressmen go to jail for this kind of activity and others don't wasn't directed at anyone. I think we can all see that Democrats get a free pass (William Jefferson anyone?).

#3. I'm delighted that Hunter didn't go to jail. I've gone on Hunter threads and cheered him on but also cautioned that I think he's running for the secretary of state's job or defense department job because no one has ever come from 2% to the presidency. But I have wished him well and wished the posters who support him well and encouraged people to donate to his in terms of time and money.

#4. Since no one was even charged in this Rudy case, and no one was jailed or convicted in the Hunter case, I was making the connection that I expected the same kind of support for Rudy with regard to this rather dubious "connection" as Hunter has clearly been given. That's poorly worded but I'm rushed and have to get going.

Pretty desperate on the part of some Freepers when they have to post articles from 1999 to try and pin something on Rudy

Think of it as Spring training. You think the MSM is gonna handle your guy with kid gloves once he is the man?

FR couldn't take down Donald Duck these days, let alone Dan Rather.

It's not duck season. It's RINO season.

Then you have grasped the import of what was done and said and later discredited or tossed in the name of "Post-Partisanship".. Thanks!

Of course he's post-partisan: He's gone from being a libertarian-talking Republican to being a Socialist Lite. ("Lite" because he still raises our taxes, but now calls them "fees.")

#1. I never tried to say anyone was charged.

Oh, sure, you just implied wrongdoing with this statement, with absolutely NO context about Jefferson or Dems:

It's interesting how some congresscritters can accept illegal campaign contributions and nothing happens and others accept illegal campaign contributions and they go to jail.

Peach the Innocent.

Since no one was even charged in this Rudy case, and no one was jailed or convicted in the Hunter case, I was making the connection that I expected the same kind of support for Rudy with regard to this rather dubious "connection" as Hunter has clearly been given.

And I agree there.

Now, please show me on the thread last night where you told nopardons that she was out of line with her insinuations against Hunter.

Hint: you never did.

Which shows your hypocrisy.

So Rudy is all mobbed-up, just like we thought. So much for that tough-as-nails prosecutor image.

But it's not Italian-bashing because he's mobbed-up with the Russian mafia, not the Cosa Nostra.

I don't see any indication of wrongdoing here by Rudy, nor any allegations of a quid pro quo. I really think it is counterproductive to get after Rudy here. Lord knows his positions alone are bad enough.
