We'll be praying for ya! (She says, only half joking.)
I would think if the jar were really contaminated and you ate so much, that you would be quite a bit sicker than you described.
However, taking no chances with the wee one, I'd have Mrs. IR call her doctor in the morning and check the situation out. Good luck!
IslandJeff has that ping list I think.
Symptoms of Salmonella infection include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, fever, nausea, and/or vomiting. The diarrhea may be non-bloody, occur several times per day, and not be very voluminous, although in severe cases it may be frequent, bloody and/or mucoid, and of high volume. Fever generally occurs in the 38°C to 39°C range. Vomiting is less common than diarrhea. Headaches, myalgias (muscle pain), and arthralgias (joint pain) are often reported as well. Whereas the diarrhea typically lasts 24 to 72 hours, patients often report fatigue and other nonspecific symptoms lasting 7 days or longer.

Same here : )
That's what I was thinking, but now I'm starting to wonder. While our symptoms haven't been extreme, both Mrs. IR and myself have experienced discomfort. She's been complaining about cramps for over a week, but we both attributed it to the pregnancy. This is our first, so we really aren't sure what to expect. Our visit to the doctor last week didn't reveal anything abnormal, so we just assumed her cramps, nausea, muscle aches, and lethargy were all part of the experience.
However, taking no chances with the wee one, I'd have Mrs. IR call her doctor in the morning and check the situation out.
Indeed!
Put them into a gift package and quickly find a democrat. ; >)
The ping list having anything to do with diabetes is maintained by FReeper IslandJeff as mentioned above.

Thanks for the post! Just bought a jar of this yesterday, fercryingoutloud.
I always buy Jif, but they didn't have any small jars of it, so I bought Peter Pan for the first time in eons.
Of course.
At least it's unopened, but just barely.

We were sick last week out of the blue, too. Will check the PB in the a.m.
Bummer.
Did they issue a Total Destruction Protocol?
Really, what do they mean---"destroy" the PB?
Yeah, how were we supposed to find out about this if it weren't for FR?
Some people have to avoid peanut butter altogether. I watched a colleague almost die of an allergic reaction to peanuts in our computer ops center during a Christmas party after he ate something with peanuts in it. He had to be rushed to the hospital.
I don't see a product code anywhere on my Great Value Peanut Butter jar. Where does one find it?
I just checked and I have a (nearly empty) Great Value Crunchy PB jar, and sure as heck, there is the 2111!
Great. The only peanut butter I buy. Peter Pan...Ugh!!!!
If got six jars in the pantry and all are 2111. Amen.
Thank you very much,
One half used Peter Pan Creamy 28 ounce with bad code!
Slight diarrea and slight head aches for last two weeks which is very rere for me.
