Cheney won't testify in Libby perjury trial

There was absolutely no point for either to testify. There is absolutely nothing Cheney can say to help Libby's defense, not factually, not personally, i.e "I chose Scooter to be my CoS because of his notoriously bad memory"? Same goes for Libby, there is nothing to add - they impeached Plamegate "revenge" story already, they now only need to impeach or put in reasonable doubt counts that depend on Russert - don't see how putting Libby on the stand would help it.

I was afraid Fitz would call Cheney, trying to trap or "embarrass" him, to make his bones with the left who must feel pretty disappointed with him now. I always thought that defense had a line about "calling Cheney" as a witness only as a ruse, playing for the DC jury (Cheney as hostile / reluctant witness) and maybe to sucker Fitz into not calling him, expecting to get a cross-examination.

Fitz was badly outplayed in the courtroom, but then again, he has no case. He is only playing to the media, that's where the show trial is... and the willing media, which has been a co-conspirator in this case from the beginning, is happy to play along and repeating their own story line.
