With media like we have in this country, for the most part, we don't need enemies. - I remember so well the spectacle of Sam Donaldson during the first Iraq war (when Hussein invaded Kuwait) - standing on a beach in the wee hours of the morning, shining lights and broadcasting for all to see where our troops were coming in - showing the ship arriving with troops. It was asinine and out of line. - I want to know what sort of rarified atmosphere the majority of these people hatched in. - Their wishes for the demise of this country would insure their own demise.

I've had a number of inquiries regarding Freeper lingo, particularly the words "bump" and "ping".

Both are compliments.

Here are the meanings according to the 2006 FREEREPUBLIC LEXICON (Lingo, Dictionary, Lore Handbook).

Bump is used when someone wants to post a reply to a thread simply to "bump" it back to the top of the "Latest Posts" list so more visitors will see it. It is be used to single out a comment on a thread for particular approval.

BTTT - "Back To The Top" or "Bump To The Top" is like "Bump" with an exclamation mark.

Ping is like a page. The Freeper being pinged will see the thread in "New Posts to You".

Sir, re your son’s situation, I believe that one person can make a mistake, but when a whole bunch of them find themselves in a firefight, it is no mistake to shoot to kill at those firing on you. The civilian casualties are a sad fact of war, and your son and his brothers-in-arms are not to blame for this. God Bless and Comfort you, and him, and all his brothers. You, he, and they, all of them, are in my prayers, too.
