The only thing we need to save the union from is Democrats who would sell out the nation in an instant for their own political power and enrichment.

Those who support them are in much greater numbers and are a much bigger concern because of this.

Does Obama cheat at chess, like the Abe Lincoln in the sleeping pill commercial? (At least the groundhog says he does.)

Andrew Ferguson had an interesting conversation with Brian Lamb the other day on C-SPAN about Obama, and says much the same sort of thing in his Weekly Standard article reviewing Obama's two books. He is much more favorable to the first book, before Obama became a politician. In the interview he compared Obama's efforts to pose as not like the other politicians to the attempt Bill Bradley did to do the same thing.

I had the bad luck of having the TV on live when Obama spoke. when he talked about eliminating poverty - all I could think was - "again?"

monica crowley has a saturday radio show, she knows alot of NYC "elite" women - big money liberals. one of them told her they attended a private function with Obama - her comments: he smokes constantly and talks only in platitudes. she left early.

I don't give a hoot what someones skin color is but if people on the left and in the media want to make such a big deal out of this guys skin color let's look at him that way then.

This Obama guy has nothing to do with "African-Americans" that are the decendants of slaves. He's an American who's part white with a moslem father who was from Kenya. If any black American wants to follow Obama because "he's one of them" the joke is on them. Why? Because Obamas ancestors on his father's side are Arab moslems. It was Arab moslems in Kenya that sold slaves when slaves were brought in to the Americas. So I find it ironic that people would support a person because he's "African-American" as if his ancestors are slaves when in fact they would have been the person SELLING the slaves.

This guy is a fake and a fraud. He is attempting to make himself out to be something he is not. Real Americans of African slave decent have nothing to do with Obama other than they might ask about his family history and see if the reason they are in America today is because Obama's father's relatives sold them in to slavery. The followers of his fathers religion certainly sold slaves.

Besides being a fake he's an admitted user of illegal narcotics. A person whose ancestors may have been slave traders and a former crack head as president of the United States of America? You have to be kidding me!

actually, there was a recent poll (its on an FR thread) - that showed his favorable rating somewhere in the low 50s. that's not too good - for a guy that has only received glowing media praise, and not a single negative comment, to only have a 50% favorable.

Well, let's look at how Lincoln "saved" the union. Income taxes, no more state sovereignty, a more powerful central government that does not listen to its citizens anymore. Heck I could go on for a while.

Let's hope Obama doesn't "save" the union like Lincoln did.

But Obama is in the wrong party. The Democrats left the Union, and formed the Confederacy.

Don't worry, I don't,...but then again Obama is basing his entire political capacity on similar banal cliches. It's rather difficult to find anything of substance in his statements rendering his position on any philosophy or political stance. Even his book failed to give much of a position on anything.

These few quotes IMHO, actually are consistent with such a legacy of noncommitment. That position in and of itself reveals volumes of his character or lack thereof.

He's the true left's candidate. His sentiment feeds off of and feeds into them and its a loser, because its all about how bad things are - even as the economy and freedom continue to grow.

It's a "whoa is us" losing campaign theme, because it does not seek to "heal" "divisions" it seeks to exploit them.

He is the media's hand-picked candidate as well and they will spend on him (through free and constant air-time) as much of their own money as possible. When Obama goes to the bathroom, it will be on the nitely news.

I wonder if Obama knows how unpopular President Lincoln was with the editors of the major newspapers of his time for standing on his principles. Their criticism reminds me of the way they threat President George W. Bush. After the Gettysburg address, the Chicago Times bristled that “The cheek of every American must tingle with shame as he reads the silly, flat, and dish-watery utterances of the man who has to be pointed out to intelligent foreigners as the President of the United States.”

In “Abraham Lincoln, the Prairie Years and War Years”, Carl Sandburg notes that the London Times mocked that “the ceremony (Gettysburg address) was rendered ludicrous by some of the sallies of that poor President Lincoln...Anything more dull and commonplace it would not be easy to produce.”
History has rendered a very different judgment about President Lincoln as it will about President George W. Bush.

Very possible. I doubt he'll be as comical as John Kerry, but he may ultimately prove to be just as timorous.

People all falling all over themselves to vote for a black liberal with a silver tongue.

His speech writers have been diving into the sea of Abraham Lincoln's speeches.

And they've come up mighty dry.

He was even trying to emulate Franklin Roosevelt's voice inflections at one point.

Has anyone else besides me considered Ob-Yo-Mama is positioning hisself for the vice presidency?
Siphoning votes from the Socialist/Communist Madam Hillary
might make him a strong contender for that spot.
Wouldn't that be wonderful! ( snicker )

Congressman, I served with Abe Lincoln, I knew Abe Lincoln, Abe Lincoln was a friend of mine. Congressman, you're no Abe Lincoln.
