****With California and New York (two very populous blue states) voting for him (California still a long shot), he might be able to weather a few of the more conservative red states not voting for him.****
Rudy doesn't have a chance.
I played the 'Electoral Vote' game. I 'gave' Rudy NY, NJ, CA and even SC (ha-ha) and he comes up short with 253 EV's (17 short).
Try it for yourself Electoral College

Notice FR's new poll? Doesn't look like Rudi has made much headway here to me.
Free Republic Opinion Poll: Let's just say that Hillary (or someone equally as vile) cgets the Democrat nomination and a pro-life, anti-gay marriage, pro-gun, pro-defense, pro-borders, pro-small government, pro-low taxes, peace through superior firepower patriot gets the Republican nod. Who would you vote for in the general?

If Rudy convinced you he wouldn't touch touch your guns, would you vote for him? (That sounded a little dirty, didn't it?) LOL!

To be fair, his cost-cutting budgets were routinely declared "dead on arrival" by a Democrat Congress. That is something people forget. Congress increased something like 7 of 8 budgets that Reagan submitted. Reagan wanted, but would never get, the line-item veto.

I like Rudy. I just have a small issue with the second amendment thing. Before I get on Rudy's bandwagon, I will need clarification on it.
I will not vote for anyone that wants to take my guns.

I see Rudy has it. Especially since has said what kind of judges he'd appoint. Those Nigerians with mega-wealth to share need to get the e-mail addresses of all you guys who take Rudy's word on the judges.

Once again, you're incorrect. I didn't say he was on the same page as the Democrats. You can look up exactly what I said, Okay. You said:
"I don't recall Reagan butting heads with the Democrats the way some here would like to pretend. He was just as pally with the dems as Bush ever was."

To: SmithL
Got to say this is a really attractive aspect of Rudy. He does NOT feed the Bush Derangement Syndrome of the rabid 100%er cliche. He seems to be the ONLY Republican public figure these days who remembers Reagan's 11th Commandment.

If Rudy convinced you he wouldn't touch touch your guns, would you vote for him? (That sounded a little dirty, didn't it?) LOL!Based upon the words that I heard on his Vannity interview last week, I that he considers gun ownership/registration/laws a state and local issue.
As far as I am concerned, gun laws are stupid and deny people of their Second Amendment rights. However, with reality as it is, if Rudy were Pres. and never tinkered with the Second Amendment on a Federal level, that mentality would be no different from W's current position.
And from a practicle perspective at a Presidential level, there is no reason to mess with the Second Amendment when there are more pressing needs like terrorism at home (read illegal immmigrants importing dirty bombs into the USA).
To answer your question, I'd have to weasel out and answer your question with a "definite maybe."

Agreed. That does trouble me. All candidates are imperfect, and I have to wonder, which would be worse for Second Amendment rights, Giuliani or Hillary/Obama?Bingo. Please see my post #51 to Hildy. Those are just my suppositions and conjecture based upon what I've heard him say last week; not based on past statements 10 years ago. On the other hand, I also temper my views based on the fact that all politicians say what's popular at the moment to get elected. (Not trying to hi-jack but, W promised to cut spending domestic, and we all know where that went.).
Cheers.
All of the above are just my $.02.

Senator Sam Nunn was a conservative Democrat from Georgia pretty much like Zig Zag Zell Miller who supported Bush. If I recall correctly, Reagan didn't get any help from the liberal side of the Democrat Party.

Is English your native tongue?Obviously it's not yours--you cna't figure out the difference between "being on the same page" as someone politically, and being pals with someone who has political differences with you?
You should spend less time on your childish insults and more time reading. It's folks like you who dilute true debate on serious issues--in this case, how being friendly with political opponents ultimately hurts our side.
You can't tell the difference between what I wrote and what you WANT me to have written, or you can but want to make the same silly, juvenile "You're a RINO" crap that's clogging up this site? Fine, have fun--but don't be surprised when you're kicked back on your ass by the facts, by those smarter than you, who aren't impressed by your attempts to flame.
