Well, God may be wondering why the rightous are not protecting the innocents more than they are. Where are the traditional protecters in this country of young girls....the fathers, brothers, and others who would care? Buried in apathy until an especially ugly crime such as this occurs. Then they're glad it wasn't their child this time. Where is the outrage? Oh, that's right. Rule of law. Which is whatever the ACLU says it is. SPIT

I don't see how anyone in Jessica's life is to blame for her being taken from her bed in the middle of the night. No one looked the other way. This was a case of one sadistic slimeball and one defenseless little girl. If God wanted her dead, because it was somehow his will, he could have gotten that accomplished in a less gruesome way.

My main point is that it's fine if people want to believe in God. But I can't see how they can seriously suggest that he intervenes in the lives of the faithful in need if they only ask when that is clearly proven false in this case, especially since most of the time I have heard of God helping the faithful out, it's been of the nature of getting their car to start or finding the money for a home repair or whatever-- none of which is in the same universe of importance as saving oneself from being kidnapped and raped and buried alive.

So, if God does intervene, he clearly has either very limited powers to do so or he has totally screwed up priorities. It's summed up by asking any of these faithful who argue he intervenes if they would have done nothing, as God did, if they had access to God's powers. I bet not a single one would say they would watch this all unfold without stopping it.

I have talked to people who believe he intervenes and they believe that he does for no other reason than total fear-- they are scared to death to think that there isn't a guy who will rescue them when they really need rescuing. There's no logic to it. It's emotional-- no different than liberals who believe that government can rescue people when they need rescuing. People want to know that when they are at the end of their rope and are desperate, that they have a safety net. It's an extension of being a kid-- kids believe in magic and fairies and wishes and such and they think their parents are in total control of everything in their universe because it's comforting.

Please do not misinterpret my post as holding Jessica's family or God responsible for her death. My rant is about the apathy and lack of outrage in this country for child rapists/murderers. How we treat the youngest innocents among us is a mark of our nation.
