Man... I just had to post this :)
The Neanderthal theory of autism
http://www.rdos.net/eng/asperger.htm
They have found ramains morphologically intermediate between neanderthals and modern humans from the Middle East and possibly other places. Hopefully, they will have their DNA analyzed to determine if neanderthal genes were strongly expressed in some of modern humans' immediate ancestors.
GEICO. So simple a cave man can do it.
I know you didn't post it for scientific reasons, but a 99.5% correlation in DNA reflects a distinct break between us and the Neanderthals.
Heavyweight boxer, Nikolai Valuev, comes to mind.
C'mon, today's people "interbreed" with horses, chickens, goats, sheep and just about anything else that breathes and is above room temperature (just check out Sundance). And we are supposed to believe homo sapiens would've looked down their noses at Neanderthals, that copulating with them would have been below their station? Ha!
Clan of the cave bear was a good one.. I loved it/them..
One thing ALL humans have in common.. They love a good story..
Well humans and Oak trees are something like 90% the same, so a 0.5% does not prove much when a 1 millionth percent of a genetic difference separates an Einstein from an anacephalitic.
Stupid article but I did like the "Clan of the Cave Bear" movie and didn't even realize they were trying to depict Neanderthals vs. Cro-Magnons. I thought it was "primitive vs advanced", not a species difference they were depicting, that is if Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons even qualify as different species. From what I can see, the jury is still out on that.
It does not accurately convey the actual DNA evidence for human/Neanderthal interbreeding.
There have been a lot of articles, including FR threads, on this subject. Check out the facts for yourself.
Somebody needs to do a DNA test on Dan Dierdorf. Just saying.
No question in my mind: Mr. Fairview is a direct lineal descendant of the Neanderthals. But he is his own species.
"nimbler modern humans who left Africa about 100,000 years ago."
This is a theory. There is no concrete evidence that states that 100,000 years ago man originated....
The Land masses were different, the sea levels were different, the ice sheets were different. It is even plausible that the Axis of the Earth was different or that the land masses as they are currently situated on the mantle were situated differently, thus allowing North Africa to be water and forested and Antartica to be warm and habitable.
Since we can't explore the landmass of Antartica, it is silly to assume that it was never inhabited nor postulate it was not the the home of mankind.
I actually have a co-worker who strongly resembles a Neanderthal in his physical appearance. His face looks like one and he has a very powerful build. And yes, he's a lib. One of the other lib co-workers (who doesn't resemble a Neanderthal) has an anti-Bush calendar posted in his work area. My lib friend wondered where he could get one. Despite a workroom law against political discussions, I was anxious to tell him yes, just go to www.commiebas.....com. But I demurred. Mister Neanderthal also has a very bad temper. In my opinion, the co-workers I most strongly suspect of going nuts are the libs. They're definitely the loudest and the angriest.
