Would you accept a gay agenda/NARAL supporting abortionist gun-grabber as your party's savior against Hillary Clinton even if it means we abandon the pro-life, pro-family, pro-freedom of religion and pro-gun planks from the party's platform?
I'd say that the answer to that is NO, Alex.

A steely determination to win the war on terror is really all that matters for the time being. Let us choose a leader with that quality above all others.
Let's do that. Clearly, this would place a mayor so far out of the running when compared to the former chairman of the armed services committee - or even a senator who was a Vietnam POW, it's not even funny.

Hear, hear Afronaut. I'm a proud conservative and take pride in praising or eviscerating the Republican party based on their adherance to, or abandonment of, this ideology. If the northeastern powerbrokers work overtime and Newt/Tancredo/Hunter split the conservative vote, we may very well see a situation in which Rudy gets the nomination with a minority of the vote.
In such a scenario I will proudly cast my vote for the Constitution party and work overtime to ensure the defeat of both the democratic candidate and Rudy.
My vote is owned by no political machine.

Could be thats is over..
I suggest a Conservative caucus... trumping party..
A caucus that will support various candidates democrat or republican..
If they match a/the platform... and to the degree they match it..
But Free Republic is a kind of caucus...
On second thoughts it could be like herding cats..

Glad to see you highlight the word "Mayor."
I cannot believe we have fallen so far into the abyss that such a remarkably unqualified person would even be considered for the position of President of the United States.
Issues aside...what a joke!

All of the pro-things listed above mean nothing as long as Islamofascists ar trying to chink away at our armor bit by bit t get at our soft underbelly.

I beg to differ.

Fair enough, but your priority is just not going to be the leading issue in 2008.If you want to win the election, it doesn't have to be the leading issue. But it also cannot be discarded if the GOP wants to hold the base and draw Reagan Democrats back into the party.

Whereas, the so-called "social conservatives" don't give a flip about free minds or free markets. Wrong-o Mary lou. I am all for government being as small as possible and as local as possible. I used to be laissez-faire but now hold to a slightly modified version of capitalism. It is the free marketeers who seem to think that as long as people are buying and selling it doesn't matter why kind of culture we live in.

I think not.
If you don't believe in free markets, then you don't believe in free markets, and there's an end to it.
You're just another collectivist, you just hate to be outed.
But you outed yourself. Thanks.

Well, I do admire Ayn Rand, but my true heroes are Adam Smith, Ludwig von Mises, Friedrich Hayek, Milton Friedman, Ronald Reagan, and Margaret Thatcher.
But it's interesting that you're willing to admit that you are not a capitalist, nor do you admire capitalism.
I've often said that so-called "social conservatives" do not give a flip for capitalism, free minds, or free markets.
I believe that capitalism and free markets are essential for human advancement, and I suggest to you that if you don't, then you are the RINO.

But it's interesting that you're willing to admit that you are not a capitalist, nor do you admire capitalism. Please post the number of my post where I said this. It is the equivalent of saying that because I do not believe in public education, therefore I am against education. I no longer subscribe to laissez-faire capitalism, therefore I must be a communist. Randinistas are not known for nuance in the realm of ideas.
