Also, in the first case it's the individual who's putting it into his own body; in the second, it's a outside entity putting something in. Not the same thing at all.

Prohibiting or mandating by the government is the same in that the government controls what goes into your body. Either way, it is government control.

It'll cut down on transmission of other things, too. Just think, one shot takes care of it all.

ROFLMAO!

Thanks for the much needed laugh. :-)

This vaccine guaranties only against certain strains of the virus.

You may find the following article interesting:

"Sponsor to Pull Measure Mandating HPV Vaccine"

Apparently, a Maryland pol was trying to make this vaccine mandatory too, but, changed her mind, lol.

IIRC, several states are debating whether this vaccine should be mandatory.

I was at my allergist, and he also happens to be an immunologist, and he told me the vaccines are only 80% effective, that is, only 80% of those who get them are protected somehow. The other 20% aren't. And of the 80% the level of protection varies.

But you also get protected by the herd immunity of others whose vaccinations worked.

Hello! Boys can spread it! It doesn't matter if they don't get the cancer. Does is make sense to vaccinate half the population to stop the spread of a disease?

Especially considering the number of male homosexuals who get anal cancer that may be related to HPV infection.

And the *government control* part is the issue here. That's what people are objecting to.

Sen. Delores G. Kelley (D-Baltimore County) said yesterday that she plans today to withdraw legislation that would have mandated that young girls be vaccinated against human papillomavirus, or HPV, a sexually transmitted virus.

"It's a timing problem," Kelley said, without providing more details about her decision to pull the bill.

Merck has been pushing for state laws mandating the vaccine since the federal government approved the drug eight months ago. No state has required the vaccination.

Timing issue. IOW, they're watching to see what the fallout is when one state tries to mandate it.

Funny how so many of the legislators are for it and so much of the general population is against it. I wonder if the lawmakers will *opt out* themselves and who would be giving THEM grief for it.

Could you see the success of the vaccine if it were pushed as an anal cancer preventative vaccine?

Yep. And it's falling pretty fast here in Texas.

Texas Republicans ask Gov. Perry to rescind vaccine mandate

From the article:

Lawmakers should have been allowed to hear from doctors, scientists and patients before the state implemented such a sweeping mandate, said state Sen. Jane Nelson, chairwoman of the health and human services committee.

"This is not an emergency," said Nelson, adding that she plans to ask Attorney General Greg Abbott for an opinion on the legality of Perry's order. "It needs to be discussed and debated."

-------

You know the old saying?

Beware the toes you step on today, for they may be connected to the backside you have to kiss tomorrow

Even the Chairwoman of the Health and Human Services committee is ticked.

LOL!

No doubt men should respect themselves as well. But the buck truly stops with women. Always has, always will.

When the woman goes in to the ob to get the birth control of her choice for marriage, then she can get whatever vaccine she chooses in case of exposure. Pretty simple, really.

So if government control is the issue, then you must favor the government ot controlling what you put in your body. So you must be in favor of legalized drugs? I didn't know you were a libertarian.

No, but laws against possession, purchase, sale, and other forms of distribution of drugs are simply that. They say nothing about use.

That is only part of my "issue"... I have a bigger issue with so many vaccines being foisted onto our society with so little knowledge of the damage they can and do, do to our immune systems.

Oh and that is so much better than having a strong immune system to mount it's own defense against disease. /s
