"While that is your issue, the WOT is mine and Romney appears to be unappeasable on fighting Islamic jihadism."
The WOT is a big issue for most Republican voters, but to win we can't overlook the other issues that matter to the same voters.

"I will never vote for a Massachusetts politician. Ever."
"Even when I lived in Taxachusetts, I never voted for Teddy the Red Nosed Senator. Neither him nor "the Duke". I was outta there before Horse Face ran, so I never got to vote against him too in a state race."
Did you leave the ballot blank, or write-in someone from another state? I ask because if you voted for Kennedy's and Dukakis's GOP opponents you would have voted for a Massachusetts politician.
BTW, Mitt Romney is from Michigan.

Although I do care deeply about the 2A I'm also an across-the-board conservative who's interested in other issues as well. Call me a dreamer, but I'm still holding out for the complete package in a presidential candidate. I've observed Romney at fairly close range since 1994 and he just doesn't do it for me.
Feel free to support your guy and I appreciate your civil and reasoned support of him. Much different than when I mix it up on the Giuliani threads... boy, talk about a cult of personality!

I appreciate your civil and reasoned support of him. Much different than when I mix it up on the Giuliani threads You too. I find both sides unreasonably entrenched and I've seen a good deal of name-calling from both the Hunter and Rudy camps. It has turned me off. Was it this ugly on FR in 2000?
I'm still holding out for the complete package in a presidential candidate.
Hey, aren't we all? Dream on, right? FreepOn too!

Never said I wouldn't vote for a Mass politician, someone else did. I was commenting on Teddy and his clones.
Don't recall too many Mass politicians worth a darn, though.

Empty Suit Empty suit? Super-successful venture capitalist, ran Olympics, won as GOP Governor in MA. These are not the doings of an empty suit.

Oops, sorry about that. That post #25 made it sound as if you'd said that.

You're right about that, but Romney is not a typical Massachusetts RINO. I'm not saying that I will support him for President, but I'm not going to judge him based on how despicably liberal Conte, Weld and Cellucci were.

Hi Miss Marple. I think at this stage, the nomination will go to either Romney or Guiliani. McCain has way too many negatives with the Republican electorate. I don't have a favorite yet either. I will say that in our TV age, Romney's good looks give him an edge no other candidate has, Repubican or Democrat. But looks alone will not win it for him. I'm waiting for the debates.

I was just get starting on FR back in 2000 but I'm sure it got brutal at times. Get your flame suit ready, because it's going to be a long next 14 months or so.

Was it this ugly in 2000? LOL!
You cannot imagine the venom on the threads back then. Most of the venom came from the same people we are hearing from now.
I am remaining neutral and only making commments on strategy and chances of different candidates. I won't make any decision until I hear them in the debates, and even then may wait. My vote doesn't matter since our primary is so late, and my donations (small as they will be) will go to whoever wins the nomination.

That is a very reasonable, wise, mature and.....conservative approach.

Was it this ugly on FR in 2000? You've not seen ugly yet. How do Presidents Buchanan and Keyes strike you?

How about deeming a man who never held public office qualified to hold the nation's highest elected office?
He sure wasn't a former Supreme Allied Commander which made Ike perfectly qualified for CIC.

How about deeming a man who never held public office qualified to hold the nation's highest elected office? I believe you're talking about Keyes who was appointed to serve as an Ambassador to the UN and later as an Assistant Secretary of State by Ronald Reagan. Or not. But that wasn't my question.
Do you have something against those who were Keyes supporters?
