And the damage is likely even worse than the earliest news articles are reporting. Much, much worse than the December tornadoes in the area.
I received, along with others on his list, an email from a friend last week saying that he and his wife were going to Florida for two months....so stop all emails, jokes, etc. I wrote and asked what part of Florida. I thought he said south of Orlando. Naturally, I was concerned and praying after hearing this morning's news.
So I sent an email to everyone on his list, and just received this answer from his friend:
"He's in the area of Lady Lake, Lake Weir. I talked to him this morning and they are okay, no damage where they are. All around them the roads are closed because of damage so they will have to stay put for several days."
Drudge has a flashing light up and reporting 14 dead. Prayers going up.
You can buy a cheap emergency weather radio which will alert you to the problem at all times. I believe Radio Shack has some cheap ones.
I'm here in Jacksonville. Prayers for my neighbors in the Daytona/Smyrna Beach area and other areas in central Florida hit by the storms.
Reminds me of a joke: What do a redneck divorce and a tornado have in common? Somebody's losing a trailer.
