Well, we've got at least 3 NJ-ites committed to coming (4 with you!) AND we cover ALL of NJ--South Jersey, Central Jersey and North Jersey. This is important enough to unit even us NJ-ites! :-) And a ping to Bette Boop since she supported the Sergeant so well in his walk across NJ a few weeks ago!
Got your ping...gotta find out more about this

Subject: FW: Desk of Viper: "A Gathering of Eagles" On March 17th, 07 at the WALL - 02/05/07 Greetings fellow airborne troopers!! Pls. take a second to read the notes below. A GATHERING OF EAGLES that will take place on 17 March is for one reason----TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR OUR TROOPS!!!! The momentum is gathering, and ALL veterans (or ANYONE!!) who support what our troops are doing against the war on terror are invited. I would encourage you to spread the word around Ft. Bragg and Fayetteville to ANYONE who recognizes what THE TROOPS are doing to protect the homeland to come join us at the Wall on 17 March in a show of solidarity and patriotism. All are welcome who support our soldiers and what theyre doing. Of course the active duty troops at Bragg would be more than welcome to participate, however I would suggest a check with appropriate regulations would be in order regarding wearing of the uniform to such an event. Feel free to share this note with any other military organizations you may be in touch with. ALL THE WAY!!!!!! LTC Steve Ehart, USA (Retired) ---------------------------------------------------------------- Brother I took the liberty of posting your message on http://e20-c75th-rangers-association.org/forums/ and also on ArmyParatrooper.org and MilitaryImages.com and sent out emails to all the vets I know, including the Patriot Guard. I would also ask you to forward the petition to all of your contacts. I will forward the petition to you. Thank you, Please help bring them home by signing the Set Them Free Petition below that will be provided to the Vietnam Ambassador to the United States, to President Bush and to Congress. To sign SET THEM FREE PETITION CLICK HERE: http://www.letfreedomringinc.com/petition.htm 'And Justice for All' by Jeffrey M. Epstein Our nation's veterans can breathe a sigh of relief over John Kerry's recent decision not to mount another presidential campaign. Perhaps he finally came to the realization that America is no longer amused by his political chicanery. Perhaps Teresa, after having discovered a more lucrative financial investment, simply cut off his allowance. Or perhaps Kerry's long-suppressed conscience finally emerged -- tormenting him with pangs of quilt over his opportunistic, deceptive and narcissistic ways. I think not. In any case, the committed folks who challenged him in 2004 did so at significant risk and personal sacrifice. Fortunately, they can now "stand down," comforted by the fruits of their labor. As we look toward the future, we should all stand steadfast against the use of phony war records and libelous testimony against our nation's most cherished resource -- the brave men and women of our Armed Forces. We must demand that this type of deception is never again employed as the basis of a political platform. As a nation, we should also strive to do a far better job of vetting our candidates, rebuking those who employ the "win by any means" mentality so prevalent in today's political arena. As for Kerry, it's not too late for him to apologize for bearing false witness against his brothers in arms. In his libelous testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the Senator chose to tarnish the image of an entire generation of courageous servicemen. Despicably, Kerry, ever the opportunist, did so for his own political gain. Our Vietnam veterans, who served with dignity and honor, were forced to carry the stain of Kerry's lies for the next three decades. One such apology was well-received when Steve Pitkin asked to be forgiven by thousands of veterans at the "Kerry Lied" rally -- a 2004 event sponsored by Vietnam Vets for the Truth (VVT) in Washington. Steve admitted to libeling his fellow servicemen by providing false testimony at the "Winter Soldier Investigations." The 1971 Detroit gathering was sponsored by John Kerry and his infamous organization "Vietnam Veterans Against the War." At the time, Mr. Pitkin acquiesced to mounting pressure from Kerry to provide a first-hand account of heinous war crimes occurring in Vietnam -- fictional events of which he had no personal knowledge. Steve's teary-eyed apology was followed by an emotional embrace from hundreds of Vietnam veterans in attendance who cheered: "Welcome home brother." Kerry's 2004 campaign fell victim to a number of things including major offensives launched by credible 527s, like "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" and "VVT." In the end, however, it was the senator's inability to discern truth from fiction coupled with a shameful past that orchestrated his timely demise. Let John Kerry's failure to realize his lifelong presidential ambitions serve as a staunch reminder to disingenuous politicians everywhere and especially to those who proclaim they would not be confronted by those who defend the truth, true patriots refuse to allow political aspirants to hide behind embellished stories and lies. Mr. Epstein previously directed media relations for Vietnam Vets for the Truth. From what I could see on the google map today, it's a pretty straight run to DC from the top of the NJ Turnpike down.
Fellow Jerseyites, if you care to we can meet at one of the rest stops before continuing down to DC. I doubt I can fit more than 2 adults in the Escape unfortunately :(
Will there be an problem with having flags on poles? Or will the flag poles be considered a potential weapon?
You have been added to the ping list. Thank you for your interest!
Thank you for making contacts in your area. It helps a lot when we all take part in the planning and contacting!
It would be more appropriate for you to wear a cape, like superman, with the emblem. It would be FANTASTIC to have you here with us!
Flag poles are fine; I've had them at rallies in DC. I would suggest, though, using PVC pipes/tubes as the poles; the flags can be attached by cable ties thru the grommets. The reason: The standard metal pole in the average kit doesn't give enough height if you want to rest the pole on the ground yet keep the flag from touching the ground (to rest your arms). Those metal poles are usually designed to hang from porch railings so length for that isn't an issue. The DC chapter of Freerepublic uses the PVC tubes/pipes and hasn't had an issue at any rallies.
Are you coming? I don't have you on the list.
Remember folks it is only in the vacuum of dissent that the voices of liberals can overpower our own.
If I can drive a beat up forty year old mustang well over a thousand miles just to have my voice heard what is stopping your's from being added to the chorus?
Re: hotel room--see info in middle of posting #143. You might want to contact ViperAsh (sp?)directly if you're interested. My memory is that the hotel is near a metro station or has a shuttle to a metro stop BUT I'm not absolutely sure. I'll try to check on it later today.
For folks coming from NJ, factor at least $10 each way OUTSIDE OF NJ for various tolls. I'm not sure when I'll be heading out, so I can't commit right now to a meet-up but the Maryland House rest stop on I-95 is about 1 to 1 1/2 hours from DC (has a Starbucks, several fast food places, BATHROOMS!).
Very moving flyer! Thank you!!!
Yes Ma'am, Lord willing! I'll be there with my PVC and my sign(s). Thought I was your list, sorry!
You have FReepmail!
You are on the ping list, not the planning to attend. Only those that have said they will be there are on that one. ;*)
Planning to send donation to D.C. Chapter in March, BUMP.
