I paid cash for my way thru college too. Worked nights as a bartender and went to school during the day. I also had a family, husband and daughter.
Lots of people do it, not just illegal immigrants.

Their legal status is not mentioned, but legal or not, they're keepers!

Agreed. These are the kinds of immigrants we want. One of the reasons America is competitive is that these sorts of immigrants want to come here.

that is awful low for college costs. Must have been handed free money. most people who pay their way pay a lot more for college than 12,000.00.

what was this student's citizenship status?

Anchor BABY?

yeah, like the L.A. slimes is again rubbing it my our faces how better immigrants are than the rest of us.

they are all on welfare, and steal from the taxpayers, that is why they are better?

Wow, he got a 4 yr degree for less money than a Non-Cal Resident pays for one year.

Non-California Residents If you are not a resident of California, you must pay your basic registration fees PLUS an additional $339.00 per unit for each unit of credit you take. For a 15-unit course load, it will cost $6,595 per semester or a total of $13,190 for the fall and spring semesters.

You also need to register with selective service to qualify for loans and grants, another no no for an illegal.

The best students I have are those who are working 20 or more hours a week. They know how to schedule their time and they're motivated.

Most of the Hispanic students I have had were getting substantial scholarship aid. In general I find them not well prepared for serious studies.

" Are loans the predominant way to pay for college now?"

Yes, generally. My step-brother has spent the past four years on a two year Liberal Arts degree and has yet to go to university. He also wants to get married with a big wedding and live with my parents afterwards and go to university. Am I the only one who sees a problem with this scenario?
